Reedville Virginia, This Weekend. Travel Back In Time This Time.

A fancy cruiser from a previous year in front of the Gables. You can stay there.

This weekend is our hometown Classic Boat Show at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum. One of the special treats of the show is how intimate it is. As in you will get to know all the boat owners and there are always tours of the area. Sorry no one is wearing lingerie though, not that kind of intimate. Pervs!

We will have WECATCHEM there to go out, and the Barrel Back Barn find on land. Jimmys “Yannon” John Rothert’s From VA, Clif Aimes, and several other boats of his will be there and about 40ish others. Classic fishing, oyster and Byeboats will be there. There is a flea market, which sometimes is shockingly good. The weather in September is great in Virginia, and so is the boating.

Yannon and Moonshiner near Reedville in a Secret location

Reedville Virginia is a charming small town at the mouth of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. Its known for its fishing and still a working fishing village. This isn’t really a weekend town, so no fancy hotels. But some good food and bed and breakfast places. Like The Gables and  Ma Margret’s House.

The Gables.

The town is rich in history and if you’re into old houses, a true treasure, boasting to be the wealthiest town in America… Per Capita during the depression. The architecture is New England style and a fun Weekend adventure. Restaurants, The Crazy Crab is fun as is Tommy’s both walking distance from the show and on the water.  So if you like traveling back in time, and enjoying a simple no internet, cell phone day! Reedville this weekend is the chance. Here is the link to the show flyer. Fancy aint it!

I better start actually attending some of these Bucket List shows because the list just keeps getting longer and longer.

PS: Matt, I bet I could find an image for you early comment in this story. OK, I’ll just leave it blank.

For those on the West Coast (PNW region) we are having our Mason Lake Family Fun Day on Saturday!! Always a good time with classic cars, woodys, and even some glassics!

Might even see if I can convince someone to go water skiing again this year…

Trouper II is a long time member of our group, The Classic Yacht Club of America of which I am Webmaster. That’s our burgee on her bow staff. She was at our Baltimore rendezvous this past weekend. Her owners are as nice as she is beautiful. She is not based at the CBMM however another former club boat “Isabel”, a 1938 Matthews, is kept there. If you would like to check out the rest of our fleet just go to www. classicyachtclub.org. Who knows, maybe some of you Chesapeake Bay boaters would like to join us!
