2016 ACBS International Boat Show Winners
The International Boat Show at Lake Tahoe marks the second time our new boat judging award structure was used.  Gone are the traditional single winners in each category.  Instead, the new boat show awards are based on the points scored by each entry.  Boats receiving 97 or more points receive a Platinum award; 92 but less than 97 points receive a Gold award; and less than 92 points receive a Silver award.

  1. Peter

Thanks for posting the results. Just being curious but how many points are deducted for not having the original engine?

    • gene porter

      From the ACBS Judging guidelines:
Original or replacement with the same engine model and age or optionally offered engine: No mandatory deduction. If sales or
technical literature does not specify available engines or does not exist, engine must have been available when boat was built or earlier.
 Replacement 3 point mandatory deduction. A replacement engine of the same make & type as original or optional (in-line vs V,
flathead vs overhead valve, etc.) but not available when boat manufactured. Examples—Chrysler M47 in pre-1953 boat replacing M27
      or M7.
 Replacement 10 point mandatory deduction. A replacement engine by a manufacturer who didn’t exist when boat was built or an engine
not of the same make & type as the original (in-line vs V, flat head vs overhead valve, Scripps vs Chris Craft, etc.).

Thanks for letting me know. Helps me decide what to do with my boat and it’s engines.

        • Danny B

I recommend you review all the judging rules and guidelines including the scoring sheets appropriate to your boat. They’re all available in the member’s section of the ACBS website. It’s all valuable information if you’re concerned with having your boat judged at ACBS events.

  2. Derk Brill

Wow, Texxs’ photo is amazing! Soon to be used by the ACBS in all their publicity of the event (and with Texxs’ blessing, of course). Thank you Woody Boater, Matt & Texx, Don Ayres, and everyone else in the community who has supported us over the last couple of years. Special thanks to Don Hardy and McCall Boat Works for putting their heart and should into our project.

  3. Ferdinand

I find it interesting that a Chris Craft Racing runabout is included in the Raceboat category. Were these really raced or was this just a Chris Craft name designation?

    • Wilson

I don’t think so. I remember I had mine at Clayton one year. Museum Director, Bill Danforth asked me to leave it for the first Race Boat Regatta to be held 3 weeks later. I insisted it was not a “real” raceboat. Bill was persuasive so it was entered as a raceboat but I’m still not convinced

  4. Ferdinand

First and foremost-I think that it’s a really special boat in perfect condition. Having said that I can’t imagine it being a “race boat”.
From my perspective it’s runabout that was put into the wrong class for the International Show.

  5. Dave Nau

Anyone know if there were any non-wood outboards with steering entered this year?

  6. Brian Flaherty

Did anyone / does anyone have any information about the 1970 Corsair Ski Boat that got Silver in the Restored Classic Utility class?

If I hadn’t just started a new job I was going to take our 1969 Cavalier Ski Boat down to the show! I’ve been scouring the internet trying to find any pictures of that boat but it is proving to be quite elusive…
