The Boatress and Oreo on a colder day

Well, if you have looked outside, you know what we all know, it’s that time of year again. That time of year, when the days are shorter and you know whats next. Fall! Sure, there is still some amazing boating to do out there. Leaves changing, warm blankets and hot special drinks to be consumed on brisk boat rides. But its still getting close to the end. For us here in Virginia its usually around late October or right near Thanksgiving that we give up.

We have the fall colors to look forward to though! Thayer IV Photo Bob Kays

But, to be very honest, by this time of the year, I am not as excited about a boat ride as I was in lets say May. When its all ahead of us. Now its all behind us and all we have is the joy of knowing that Lake Dora is only 6 months away! WHAT? Thats an entire half year. Ugh. Maybe a short boat ride will help, that helps everything! And header day! Start click’n the refresh button and enjoy around 2500 different headers.

The Water Wonderland Chapter has held several Fall Color Tour cruises over the years, but had to cancel the October 1 st event a couple of weeks back due to bad, raining cold weather. 15 boats were signed up.
We are hoping to see a warm trend that would fall on a weekend yet this year, to do a last gasp quick splash in, and cruise.
I agree with Matt, it seems, well even I an boated out by this time of the year. If it was not for WoddyBoater prodding us on to take a last gasp cruise and send in those pictures, I would have winterized the Coronado by now!
And yes, WWC holds a Spring Shake Down Cruise the third week in May, with 12 to 15 boats joining in.

Header day??? I only got 2. I feel like Charlie Brown trick or treating on “Its the great pumpkin Charlie Brown” when he gets a rock at every house. At least one of the pictures was Alex’s daughter Marion and his Sportsman. One of the great all time photos. I guess header day had a time limit. Didn’t get home from work til 12:45AM.
