One Last Classic Boat Run Until Melancholy Sets In.

One of the new things we are trying here is longer more complex videos. Now, know that we are talking iphone here, and me driving and shooting at the same time. And then pecking away at iMovie like a 3rd grader. But we will get better. Wow, its one thing to do it yourself and not be sitting in some fancy edit sweet in LA. Phew. The fist video experiment is called “Until Then” a 3 minute long for you long video guys requests.
Clif and Jimmy again. Not to be confused with Jimmy Clif who is an entirely different person!
The subject was a spontaneous grab. Clif and I were both headed to the boat ramp to PMW Pre Maturely Winterize. Jimmy and Clif were going out for a last boat ride and I was flying in the Boatresses Sea Pro. Which is a great shoot boat. Its quiet, low and fast.
Stopping along the way to say hi! Is this a timeless photo or what?
The one hour ride was fun, visiting old pals on the Creek, and just hang’n with your buds.
The setting is right off my dock through Reedville and past the Fish Factory. This footage could have been shot 60 years ago and no changed one bit. And we like it that way.
A perfect day.. moment! – The temps dropped 30 degrees 4 hours later. YIKES

Very nice! Especially melancholy for me as I owned a ran a 17ft. Sportsman for several years. Brought back some great memories.
Great video. Hopefully M-Fine will enjoy it between shoveling snow. 3 feet in places up state. Hope he is stocked up on bacon.
I am down to my last 30 lbs of bacon, but that should last the week. We only got about 15″ of snow at my house. A mile up the road they only got half of that. Crazy lake effect patterns. It will be above freezing for the next 10 days so this batch will all melt and we should be back to mowing the lawn/weeds in no time.
We got close to 30″, and we made a run to the store and got 4 lbs of bacon during it. Have a good Turkey day everyone.
Matt – I think I glimpsed a new market for some of your Woody Boater accessories line: You need to develop a “Woody Boater” Cap with a builtin GO PRO camera, It would have to be discreet and hopefully it would be designed is such a way so as to eliminate the wind noise static that so many videos blast over all the pleasant sounds (very distracting when trying to listen to the motor rumble). Give it some thought. It could be a hit

Great video! 2 things I noticed in the dock picture. One there is no reel on that pole, using it as a walking cane? And two that piling appears to be growing arms. New docking system?

And a really nice job, Matt. Nice copy and read. Imagine what you could do with a real video camera. I bet Mr. Setterholm could recommend something simple and inexpensive and then we can throw an online telethon to buy it for you.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! the video! Reasons why:
1. A woody boat at-speed is absolutely stunning. We are fortunate enough here to see many still shots and eye candy of various boat shows, boats at the dock, and at anchor. But it’s not every day we get to see them doing what they do best. Even less so in the winter months.
2. I particulary liked the 3rd person view, and then the cut to the 1st person view. It drew me in from afar, and then ultimately gratified me to virtually experience a ride in a woody boat from onboard. It conjured up memories of my own summer on the water in just over 3 minutes.
3. In real life, it’s not every day you get to see a boat of any kind at speed in perfectly calm conditions. There’s always chop and wake. I found myself marveling at the engineering piece of our boats. Look at the water lifting the concave surfaces below the waterline at the bow once she gets going. Think of all the passive elements in our boats that quietly and efficiently just do their job as they were intended. “Look at the bottom on that one!” might have a whole new meaning. ha!
Just an idea- during the boating season you can do short & quick snippet videos. Heck we’re all out boating and experiencing this stuff in real life (at least hopefully) during the summer months. Come February when it’s below zero for weeks on end is when alot of us will be hungering for sun, warmth, our boats….and videos just like this.
