Thats a nice “Stinky” shoe!

The other day Texx sent me a link to this cool red white and blue Americas Cup Sperry Top Sider Boat shoe! Its the perfect Stinky Shoe! Not that its stinky, but the boat Stinky our fun little red white and blue racer.

So I send the link to the boatress and I get a simple text back. “NO WAY” Now, how does this happen? I mean I like it, and she well? This seems to happen a bunch of times when it comes to stuff for boats and cars.

Maybe a little too matchy matchy. Unless your name is Biff or something. After 32 years of marriage I’ve found the girls are usually right. or at least that’s the least painful way to go.

What happened to reports on the trip. Last we heard Matt was headed to Boulder, Colo. Did he fall off the earth ?

Finally got my Brass Bell…That cover is even more ausome than described earlier here at Woody Boater, Matt’s profile is pretty ausome….and I want one of the those Chris Craft peddle cars.

    • Jack Schneiberg

Still waiting for my Brass Bell in Wisconsin. Guess the snow and the cold have detoured the postman.

And, yeah, what happened to Boulder? Did you slide off the road? And, did Lou Rauh ever catch up?

You know – speaking of red, white, and blue – I’m currently restoring a 1938 Century Thunderbolt. When we dug it out of the barn back in May I was surprised to note the bottom was painted red, white, and blue. We theorize that means the last bottom maintenance was done in 1976 and it has pretty much sat since then.

We are still in Boulder having fun in the cold. Tomorrow we are headed to salt lake

Hope you made it to the slopes…Nothing like the powder at Berthoud Pass, Winter Park or anywhere else in Colorado for that matter. A day in Aspen would be great. It was affordable when we were out there…In fact the Mayor was a friend…His stationery said “Aspen Shipyards”

As for Utah…they have wooden boats in Utah ?…Surely not in the Great Salt Lake.

take care on the western trip…..I agree with Suzy…YUK!

    Matt,
My 18 year old son bought a pair last summer..have seen a few pairs in Minny. FYI..I like them and might have gotten a pair if he hadn’t done it first…

  7. Tommyholm

Nike is the shoe of choice in Mich this time of the year. They have your size Matt

  8. Chug-A-Lug

here’s a pair of slightly used boat building slippers I could let go for the right price.(size 12)Stinky too.

Bob Boldt at Tahoe wears a red Sperry on his port foot and a green Sperry on his starboard foot as his boating attire.

  10. Dick Dow

Seeing how my old pair of Sperry’s finally bit the dust – (they get a little slippery when the sipes wear off and you just have the sole material…) and I have a red, white and blue boat as well, I may just have to get a pair…

    • DONALD G PALMER

Yeah Dick, you should get a pair. They would match the pair my wife has! (shoes)!

  11. 7FTCWBY

You have to get them no matter what the boatress says, heck get her a pair too. That is what I did and starting next season there will be pictures of both my wife and I in turquoise (sea foam) boat shoes instead of just me.

    Ouch! Sticker shock.

In the 1970’s I used to buy my Topsiders at the Uniroyal (ne: U.S.Rubber Co.) factory store in Naugatuck Ct. for half-price, $12.95. I replaced them when the soles wore down (siping long gone by then) and the stitches in the bottom grooves were exposed and the soles started flopping.

I don’t think they’re as good as they used to be, but perhaps neither am I.

I agree with the Boatress, not the best look. If you are going to go wild you can get Century owners shoes, they come in a number of bright colors.

    • Dick Dow

Of course, we all realize why these would be the footwear of choice for a Century owner… 😉

  14. floyd r turbo

If you said I’d like either those or these, I think she would have had an easier decision.

  15. Troy in ANE

Get a matching pair of the shoes, then get Suzy one of these (the suit that is) and bring Stinky to Dora.

    You two will be STYLIN’!

  16. thomasd

everyone that covered their boat up last year at dora to keep them from getting a little rain on them had these on.
