Huge Surge In Lake Dora Attendees Reported.

FLA 2015 Kabbot fun

Troy is already there! Save some beer for us!

Over the past couple weeks there has been a nice spike in people signing up for the Big lake Dora show, says Terry Fiest Show Chairman. This is fantastic news! Over the past couple years we had noticed that numbers were either flat, or less.

Fun FLA so long

Scooters are here! Save some beer for us!

The weather has had a big part in that, but combined with the economy and a possible perception of a shrinking hobby. Well, here is some good news. ACBS membership is up.. Way up! Certain events, Like the big Woods and Water event on Gull Lake, broke records, and interest is up. We here at Woody Boater meet new folks daily. A huge part of this is two fold. One, classic Fiberglass is being more widely accepted at events, and honestly very cool.

Oh hell ya!

The other is the digital footprint of the culture is much better. New websites for the ACBS, The new soon, Chris Craft Antique Boat Club site, and Facebook. If you even are into boating, you will be exposed to classic boating one way or another which is reaching a wider audience from around the planet.

There will be Canadians as well!Save some beer for us!

We are thrilled to see that the big event in Lake Dora this year is seeing an uptick in numbers, because it’s truly a more the merrier type thing. We LOVE new fun surprising boats and meeting new people. Bring it on! Just 7 Days! Woohoooo!

I cleared over two feet of snow from my driveway and the airport crew cleared the runways, taxiways, and ramps (that is a LOT of cubic feet of snow to move!) so my path to Floriduh is no longer blocked by Mother Nature.

The forecast for Tavares next week has temps in the 80’s with no hurricane force winds and absolutely no snow. That seems pretty attractive right now.

Glad to hear things are looking up for Dora after the poor weather the last two years. We wish all you snow bird boaters fair weather and a great event!

It is 27° here in good old Summerville South Carolina this morning, hopefully the last blast. Ready for Dora and warmer weather.

Already here in Dora, and although cooler than normal temps this week there’s still plenty of good boating. One of the highlights of course is the beautiful Dora Canal, and then the obligatory beer and lunch at Palm Gardens. Forecasts predict warm and sunny temps next week for the show.

Yes, I will be launching Gottago into the St. Johns river either this afternoon or tomorrow morning depending on how things go.

Also good news our programmer who is in his mid 30’s sees his generation getting interested in “Analog” items, such as old boats. That should be good for the hobby.

The show has been at or above registration capacity for both land and water display boats for some time now and there is a substantial waiting list, from what I’ve been told.

I also understand there is strong participation in both river cruises – we are going on the Southbound Cruise in Nothin’ Fancy with Scott and Shannon Knight starting on Sunday, and that will be great.

Nice to see interest so strong, and the long-term weather forecast looks great. Might be a couple of logistical deviations from past practice as the town of Tavares is in the middle of some municipal storm sewer and drainage work in the areas of the show, but accommodations have been made and contingencies are in place.

We’re looking forward to a great event!

Well I have had enough of the weather the ground hog could not have been more wrong I think he stayed in too much with maple syrup and Rye. Putting on the summer tires and greasing up the bearings for the 24 hr ride. ACBS always crazy for boating somewhere.
