Fellow Woody Boater Steve Snider sent us in this wonderful short film of the perfect weekend spent on his Century Raven, and a fun bonus of his Century running in Seattle. The perfect footage to take your mind off work today, for at least a couple minutes! And remind us all that Woody Boats are for ..get this… BOATING! Take it away Steve!
My cousin Chris King is a professional videographer and brings his equipment with him to my family property on Henry Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. 5 of us headed up Friday June 30th from Lake Union through the Ballard locks, which just celebrated their 100 years in service. The trip to Roche Harbor takes about 4 hrs averaging 20 knots or so. We spent 8 days on an island off of San Juan Island right across from Roche Harbor to celebrate the 4th of July.
More friends and guest came up via seaplane or ferry. Fantastic weekend of exploring the waters, searching for whales, ladder golf, nail game and a private fireworks show coordinated by yours truly.
The video isn’t wood boat centric but more for us and our friends.
My boat is a 26′ 1963 Century Raven named BADLANDS that I purchased in upstate New York 7 years ago. My younger brother and I trailered it all the way back to Seattle and then spent 4.5 years restoring it.
Cosmetic fixer they said, yeah right! Added a mahogany front deck, modified the windshield, 4.3 EFI V6’s, killer sound system and underwater lights. Not original but for me a big improvement from the original design.
And as a bonus extra we also have some great footage from a Camera Test of all things. You get to see a very cool Classic Boat in the Seattle area doing its thing.
