Irma Update – Lake Dora Show Location.

This looks like the location where we normally are near where the Sea plane is parked.

If you are familiar with the Wootten Park location in Tavares Florida of the Sunnyland ACBS big show in March, you may not recognize these images posted by the Tavares Police Dept Facebook Page.

So sad! So very very sad!

Ugh

Not good

Pontoon boat graveyard

As a reference you can see the community building in the background

In a better time!

It’s beyond sad, but one thing is for sure. The City of Tavares Florida is amazing! No. Really amazing, the group of people that run that area are the best of the best and have been building up the area to perfection. Even though we have not spoken to anyone there we would bet the farm on the fact that all will be up and running soon…ish.

This looks like the dock furthest from the ramp, where the tour boats were located.

Ugh

The good news is it looks like the concrete piers are there, and maybe? Once cleaned up the docks can be… oh hell, we don’t know. I want to throw up it’s so very sad.

Our hearts go out to all those in the area effected, and if and when the big show is a go in the area in March, lets make this the biggest show in there history. After all we as a community are all about restoring things to better than new, and one thing is for sure, so are the people of the Lake Dora area!

Maybe 20 years ago they had nasty weather a couple weeks before the show. Come show time it was cleaned up enough for the show to go on. With 6 months to go it should be fine. What about Palm Gardens? Hopefully the trees held it in place.

Any word from Hurricane Paul, or any of the other residents in the area? I saw that 59% of Florida power accounts were still down as of this morning, so I have to imagine the chain of lakes are is part of that and I know there are a lot of WoodyBoaters there.

We are trying to find out about the palm Gardens! Also Paul reported that there was a boat, NOT HIS, up against his land. it looks like from that report and photos the wind blew towards the show off the water. I agree with jim, this group down there is amazing! But the entire state is a train wreck. The good news is that no fatalities are reported in the area of Tavares, but its too early on that report either.

Wilson is fine…Tallahassee just got a glancing blow from Irma. Central Florida. Orlando/Tavares area took more of a beating…Terry can probably tell us more about that. Jacksonville got very heavy rains. Guy Marvin and Gerald Dake can tell us more about that but TV pic made it look like downtown Jacksonville was under water. Interesting thing was how arriving storm sucked the water out of West coast areas (ie Tampa Bay). People told not to go out for fear of drowning when water returned but I’ll bet a lot of people went out to find fishing rods, etc and lots of other stuff that folks dropped overboard in years past.

Um, there’s a storm coming and you don’t do your due diligence? Not the city but the individual boat owners. I imagine there is ( or should be) a clause that says you have to move your boat in the event of impeding danger. The docks may
(MAY) have survived if those boats weren’t tied to them. I ask my fellow boaters, would you have left your boat there? They had plenty of time to move them. I put mine in a safe place and I am sure you did too.

Lighten up! The docks were supposedly designed to with stand the storm. People don’t need to here someone preaching to them a time like this .Sorry were not all perfect like you.

I can’t believe all that damage. I hope everyone has insurance. Paul says his place has no damage, so that’s good news. But to loose everything you ever worked for due to something out of your control……….. heartbreaking………….

Breaks one’s heart. Not changing my plans for March, still planning to attend. If anyone can pull it off it’s Mr. Fiest.

I was there for the 1st time this year. I came home and told everyone of how AWESOME the area, and the docks were.
Looking forward to being there again, hopefully they can get it all rebuilt.

The Tavares Police report that a large number of the boats lost at the dock, were the kind where oil is contained and only gas would have been spilled witch will evaperate. Also they expect it to be cleaned up in three weeks. You can keep up with it all on there facebook page
