What a great site!

As we start our countdown to our Clayton Show Live Report in 30 ish some days. We got an update that Pardon Me Is in the water, and that is a sign of goodness. The water this year is up, and boating in the Thousand Islands is a GO! Go! Go!

last year the water was so low Pardon Me was on land. I will add that to me, one of the more fun shows. The Museum has done an amazing job to make this a destination for our culture!

We will be arriving Early Friday or Late Thursday August 2 with Phil Andrews from New Zealand to paint the town ….. Wait, Varnish the town and area. It will of course be 1000 times more fun if many of our citizens show up for a fun gathering.

In the yacht house

LOVE these boats together

But today is Friday and the start of what looks like its going to be another fantastic weekend for Woody Boating. So get out there!

Here is Pardon Me going in the water from The Antique Boat Museum’s Instagram page, which they are very active with and you should follow it. Fun stuff.

You got your story backwards! Last year the water level was a foot above the 100 plus year record high. This year it is at a more acceptable LOWER level.

Planning to drop the new engine into the Penn Yan today. If all goes well, we will launch her tomorrow. If all doesn’t go according to plan, well, that’s why you need to have multiple boats!

BTW, it is supposed to be 97 here this weekend. My boating will be limited to early mornings and late evenings until we get AC installed on one of the boats.

Dang, thats right? My bad, and yes I recall it right now. I have been running on fumes.

The fact that the water level is normal now is the big story. The ultra high level last year was an absolute disaster for home owners, businesses and tourism in the region. It prevented us from boating in the islands where we love it so much and impacted the way this show should be enjoyed.

Hope the mess of 2017 never happens again!

Participated in the Antique Boat Parade for Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor Maine on Tuesday in American Beauty.

Heading out tomorrow on Band Aids for an overnight in Christmas Cove to listen to friends of friends who are playing in a band at Coveside.

We are definitely “Getting out there”!

Curious how the boat got its name “Pardon Me”. I knew a guy who had Pardon Me as the license plate on his car. Seems as though he asked and was granted a Pardon by President Bush. Seems his calendar didn’t coincide with The State of Washington regarding hunting seasons.

Don’t recall the whole story of the naming of the boat, (museum has a page about the boat) but it was originally commissioned by a well to do person and built by Hutchinson in the 1000 islands. It had numerous engine and running problems with associated delays and cost overruns. It changed owners a few times, at one point named Lock Pat and had additional chrome added. Interesting and somewhat sad tail for such a unique revolutionary designed boat. Sometimes one-offs are a technological exercise in cost overruns.

TOO HOT to even go outside this weekend in West Michigan!
Saturday the heat index is to hit 104.
This is the same weather pattern we had during the Memorial Day weekend. 1/3 of our Michigan boating days are already gone. Feeling depressed.

Will the ACBS still give you the reserved Woody Boater parking spot right in front of HQ in Clayton?

Here’s that Beast in Michigan, off M-39, in 1984. Coming out of that building, large as Godzilla !

    Pardon Me, Miss !

Spare Packard motors were on pallets in the shed.

We were in the Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival in June.

Great turnout, nice variety of quality boats, of all types.

We are having a gathering in Los Angeles Harbor tomorrow and Sunday, next to the U.S.S. Iowa; taking vets for harbor rides.
