Looks like a lot of fun as always, but I am glad I stayed home this year. Wouldn’t have wanted to miss the blizzard we are getting this evening!

    YOU ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!

    Miss you all!

Speaking of not getting in a car. For many years I have taken the week of the 4th of July off for a “Staycation”. My goal in those weeks is to never get in a car. Here on the coast of Maine I can even go grocery shopping by boat.

Great to see the young man at the helm of the Aristocraft. One of my favorite boat brands. Looking forward to the Correct Craft story, as that’s another of my faves.

Looking forward to the story about the Tommy Bartlett boat. Midwesterners -at least those in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois- that the Tommy Bartlett Water Ski Show has been a fixture, if not the anchor, of the Wisconsin Dells (our Orlando) for decades. I grew up a few miles away from there in Baraboo, itself a “show town” as it was the birthplace and three-decade home of the Ringling Brothers Circus. There was always a Florida connection with the Bartlett show, as there would be cadre of Florida water skiers who’d summer in the Dells to perform with Tommy’s show. I MIGHT have dated one of the fairer ones one summer long ago… wink wink. there was something nice about dating a girl who worked in a bikini. The Bartlett show rivaled the Cypress Gardens show and still is a major attraction. Of course, Correct Craft was the other Florida connection. Tommy himself could often be seen tooling around in his Amphicar.

While you were attending the show the staff would swarm the parking lot and stick a big, loud Tommy Bartlett sticker on your bumper whether you wanted one or not. Since Wisconsin Dells was such a draw for Chicago people, I often speculated that a quarter of the cars in that city had a Tommy Bartlett sticker on their bumper. Especially since, like those ugly stickers car dealers stick on your car, most people never bother to remove them.

Bring on the complete story, Matt.

I can’t wait till my Torpedo 16 is finished. I’m so looking forward to tearing up the Delaware river like I did back in the 60’s. Also looking forward to going to some classic boating events.
