WOW, A Chris Craft 25 Sportsman Boat Model. An Early Christmas Present?

I didn’t read this. I am conflicted. Maybe one more explanation mark would have helped.

Just when you think the world has gone to crap, someone brightens your day, month , year with a very thoughtful gift. Fellow Woody Boater Jim Staib is amazing. And has stuff beyond where even my full brain can go. I did not know they made a 25 Sportsman Model. Ever. And yet, here it is. Ink clot printing and all.

OH YA BABY

I even tried to look this up on the internet and dam spell correct keeps me going to Airline, or airplane even though I command thy Google to search airlane. BTW, this would have become a huge issue for the company at some point, but they had a good two decades or so to milk it.

Thats easy..ish

Comes with its own NOS sandpaper

All the details

Even the deck is pre varnished

I aint touching this. But its so cool

LOVE LOVE LOVE the graphics.

All this for 1 buck.

I want to frame the box

The motion swishes are perfect. This is all hand drawn type.

Note the Woody Boater Star flag! and the colors are our official Woody Boater colors. AHHHHHHH!

A HUGE THANKS TO JIM STAIB FROM FINEWOOD BOATS. See you in Florida!!….!!!!!!!!!!!.!!!!!

OK, so when most of us are talking about moving south Jim is moving north. I always thought there was something wrong with him.

I can’t even imagine moving your inventory to a new location like that!

He is a class act and will help any way he can. Jim has so much stuff. He knows where parts are across the country. If you need a part he knows where one might be …

Really neat find! I can’t wait to see the finished model. I’ll bet you could find some wicker sisters at a Doll House furniture show. Thats a whole separate world, People think that we are nuts. Jim good luck on your move. So your gonna be close to da U P aye.

So is the model more valuable unbuilt in the original box? And does the price meet the criteria and guidelines outlined by Paul H et al? I’ve always thought about buying sheets of balsa or veneers to copy the planned model and build a replica to retain the original model contents and box.

From what I have seen at shows, the completed model no matter how well built and detailed doesn’t sell for the thousands of dollars you might think. I watched a skilled auctioneer trying moving these at an antique boat auction and finally giving up after trying to move 6 of these because there were NO bidders, even when the price dropped to $500. No one decided to spend the dollars to reward the builder’s hard labor.

I say build it and enjoy it as a detailed decoration in the man (boat) cave.

About 10 years ago I visited a couple in a backroad Adirondack cabin whose mantelpiece held a nicely detailed model of a U22 whiteside but whose proportions I thought were somewhat distorted. I just assumed the distortion was a result of a cheap kit until couple of years later I found a B&W calendar of Chris Craft kit boats including a kit U22 whose proportions exactly matched the model in the cabin.
I made a trip back to that cabin to ask if the model was for sale.. No luck: it had been their late son’s. I left the calendar with them

You know, I don’t know anyone who builds models.

Is this something that Ok Boomers only do?

I have never seen any GenXer or Millennial post a pic of their newly built model on Instagram or Snapchat. Is this an East Coast thing? Do folks collect models?

(Oh take a Xanax…I am just horsing around.)

What a great idea to buy a kennel. Lots of space and likely a big garage door out back. And in that country, possibly a dock.
Jim, that canoe you’re hauling looks to be about a 25′ Winona. What’s the deal on that?

Hey Mr. Staib – Can you get to Three Lakes Wisconsin on a Harley Davidson? If so, it would be a fun road trip in the summer? Looks like it’s just east of Minocqua, absolutely beautiful country.

You told me once that if a person ever wanted to get away from the madding crowd, northern Wisconsin is the place to be. Sounds like you found your happy place. – Texx

    Hey Jim,
Moving isn’t fun, but looks like you have found an ideal place. Lots of good sniffs for Jaxon too!
    Stay warm…!

I love those 25-foot CC red and white cruisers and would like to get one to build as a display model. Anyone know about one? Mike Fogarty 937-964-8818
