WARNING! CLICK ON READ MORE AND THERE IS BUTT CRACKIGE!

What the #? I know, I know, it was the 70’s and well, this sort of thing I am sure was a fun way to get people… okay, MEN to read the basics of boating. But? Buts? Then again, here we are talking about this book 50 years later. So I suppose it has stood the test of time. But could this have been published today?

It is a text book of sorts?

Come aboard! Wait.. That did not, I mean, it… Just move on.. SICKO!

Maybe I will take up sailing?

Back to could this be published today? I suppose a book publisher wouldn’t, but online. Don’t google it, it goes way way wayyyyyy beyond this. And not to sound like some old geezer, It’s kinda sad that you can find way worse stuff. maybe its just a dumb fun book, with a wink and sense of humor and no one is exploited, and guess what, if it made anyone read about proper boating skills and saved a life. Then I suppose it saved lives. Yes, SAVED LIVES! Hell, maybe even inspired some lives? Just sayn.

Published 1973 …2nd printing! So it was a big seller.. to the fellers! There are also BASIC GOLF, BASIC TENNIS and other BASIC Books in this series. Hey!

Yikes! I definitely do not recommend nude bacon frying!

I do like how the model is wearing proper foot wear at all times. Safety first!

As a young man coming of age in Marblehead, MA in the 1970’s, this educational guide held a particular fascination. Many of the photos were taken in local waters, and the participating vessels were well known. Despite diligent research, the identity of the model remains a mystery.

It was the 1970s I remember as a young kid seeing a guy wearing nothing but a ski belt watersking on lake Macatawa

This book was published around the same time a college fad was really taking off….streaking. Was there a connection?

I acquired this book out of Dave Wright’s collection. It’s an important part of my research library.
