Police boat?

WOW! Ya gotta love the randomness of ebay. This is a stunning boat. And a Chris Craft to boot! boat? booat? Look at those lines. Looks like a pre war 22 Sportsman base with some sort of cool windshield set up.

Similar to the 29 Sportsman that Mitch sold years ago from the Warner auction. YOU CAN SEE MORE HERE On that boat.

EBAY PHOTO – SLEEK! Maybe an early Express without a windshield is more closer?

But this is smaller single engine and more sleek.  I know it looks larger than 22 feet until you see people in it. I did some ciphering… I took the cinder blocks, which are 16 inches and then measured it by the cinder blocks. it took 17.5, then multiplied that by 16 inches and divided that by 12 inches. Came to 23.5 ft. So, that of course helps narrow it down to a 22 ft or 24 footer. At least that is my best Goes-intos!

So folks sell their old pics on ebay… I didn’t know that. I saw one on there with two new chris crafts sitting on a trailer. Very cool! Appreciate your article today.

It is definitely not based on a pre-war 22 Sportsman since there weren’t any, and the 22 Utility had much more freeboard in the stern. I have no clue what it really is.

My guess is 26′ triple hull. Gas cap location, number of planks and the old deck hatch laying on the ground.

I agree with you Tom, definitely a 1929 or early 1930’s hull. I thinking it was not built that way from the factory and someone used the 26′ hull and added the sides and top to it. Cool look though!!!

It’s got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas.

The boat was owned by John Pirro, a graduate of the Naval Academy. Later became Commander of the U.S.S. Abbot.

He was born in Solvay, New York, in 1921 and died on 21 December 2006 at age 85 in Linden, Virginia.
