Really? Pandemic, Murder Hornets, Super Cyclones, And Hurricanes Now?

The end is near

With all this crap going on, Super Cyclones, Hurricanes, Tornados? Cornado’s? I gotta say it’s almost impossible to write about boating when all this crap is going on. It’s not like its winter and we can make up Sausage days and live on ebay fumes. One can only sniff so much varnish to forget. WoodyBoater runs on passion and fun. It’s hard to find passion and fun during “uncertain times” like this. But I remain calm knowing one thing. This crap has been happening since the beginning of time. Thats pre pre pre war to those of us in Woodyboaterville. Like pre Crusades and wood boats have been there, and seen it all.

We miss you Don

Today, I am going to the office in Northern VA, or Chernobyl as I call it. And shockingly spelled it right? Whats with that? I even checked it. OH GOD! Now I am worried.

Our Riva brothers and sisters

And to top it all off. We did not hear from Troy yesterday. Is this the end of the world? If so, I am going for a boat ride. Quick. I would like to squeeze one more in.

What?

Troy! With a pole..

Okay, it’s official. The end is too close.

Even John Rothert is sitting today out.

I am not sure how todays story came together. If thats what you want to call it. Photos of all our ass’s. UGH.. Hold on, I need to get out my Geiger Counter.

So I am kind of going into WoodyBoater retirement and becoming more of a lurker, but if we are going to look at a “crap load” of butts lets at least make it worth our time.

Let’s see – we have covid, economy in the dumps, record high water and flooding in Michigan, killer hornets, politicians sniping at each other rather than working together.

At this time I think I’d rather be sitting on my boat with a cold Oberon!

Chill guys it could be worse. I am” NOT sitting it out today”!
Like yesterday I determined to lay low and work in the shop. Made a set of steps to a porch…just two steps but I wanted to do the “housed” version…let in..morticed and all that not just stringers….5 hours later and a failed math course I cut up that waste and cut out the stringers and moved on. Math is to me as spelling is to Matt..who cares…Go Boating….Nice butt today Troy…inspirational.

Thanks Matt, you posting a picture of our beloved Schnauzer, Nugent, the wonder dog, was quite timely.
Several minutes before I saw this photo, my wife got off the phone with the vet, about our current Schnauzer, Beemer, she was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor.
She is 12 years old and we do not know what to do. But your timing gave us a nice feel-good memory.
The Nuge, passed away when he was 14.

No butts about it – want to say thank you to the many who answered my curiosity about the metal boat license plates yesterday. Looking at old photos, I realized that even during my 1st memories of boating, early ’70s, Ohio didn’t yet have the stickers near the registration numbers. Pretty sure this is from 1972. My parents’ Chris Craft, a friend’s Owens & our neighbors’ home-built cruiser at Manchester Islands on the Ohio River.

      Kelly;

Ohio was not the only state, of course. I have a metal 1954 Michigan plate from ComOcean. We only had a registration back then, the boats were not officially titled.

it is certainly not Lake Michigan!!!
Altho it could be Wixom lake near Midland, which had a dam brake on Tuesday, draining the lake!
