Grab A Drink – Stay Tuned For Damage Report – DAMAGE REPORT UPDATE

She was parked at The Crazy Crab most of the day.. DRINKING! Her new name. SWEET PEE!

On the good news front, Sweet Pea stayed afloat over night so to spare George Butler from working on a Sunday we decided to put her on the rails today. She has taken on a drinking problem though after the “On the rocks” situation, but wouldn’t you? So we parked her at the Crazy Crab, so she could start the day with some Bloody Mary’s

Dry in the aft

I missed the fireworks last night, they do them here a day before or after to save money. I fell asleep around 8:30 have been up the night before on Bilge Pump watch.

The Sea Rescue was busy all weekend.

So today we will update as it happens. With Plank Breaking News! One thing is for sure. She was built like a tank, wait, Battleship. And for a brief moment, we can enjoy some other 2020 drama that doesn’t involve a virus or protest. See! A silver lining!

And yes, that is a 78 ft Donzi behind me, makes Sweet Pea look like a skiff.

Okay if you are tuning back in, here is a quick report, stay tuned tomorrow for more on “On The Rocks” One to many reports!

We got her up on the Rails around 11 am. She knows these rails her entire life and was happy to comply. Even George knew from memory..ish, what size boards she needed.

And. OUCH! OUCH OUCH! From a quick look, it appears we were spared far worse possibilities. The rocks took out a 2×6 20 foot length of board on the bottom of the keel, thats also covered with Copper.

The gods are having fun with me.

Thats it for now. Oh and. Looks like Rocky got involved somehow. Cant make this up!

Glad to see she is still floating high!

All the fireworks around here were canceled. I guess they didn’t think they could control the social distancing. Lots of private shows now that they are legal in Maine, but little if any public displays.

At the Crazy Crab sure beats parking her at the Krusty Krab! Floating with a dry bilge is always a good sign.

This type of incident could happen to any boater, regardless of experience. Thanks for sharing the story. You handled it well.

Bilge issues down here in south Texas too. I spent my Sunday upside down in the hatch of my 1950 U-22 trying to get my bilge unclogged (took our Lab out last year and she sheds). Happily, she’s back to normal. Send an update on Sweet Pea.

Hi Matt, please review Sweat Peas stats for me. Age, dimensions, weight etc. This is an interesting situation. Thank you for ramming the rocks in the name of a good story.

Hope all is well with the haul-out and damage is minimal! I am curious: Who among us has not had a similar experience at some point in their time on the water? Having boated the tidal waters of Puget Sound (Salish Sea) all my life, looking out for deadheads and such and constantly checking the charts and navigation aids – it’s always on my mind that I could hit something – and I have, despite the vigilance… On one vacation I went through two Nibral props in 24 hours! So I’m curious – who out there is still “untouched”? Oh – Matt, while you’re hauled, have them put an additional hose clamp on the exhaust. 🙂

Ouch! That’s just the keel though right? Looks like no damage to the hull planks. Chuck a bit of famowood in there and you’ll be sweet.
