The Short Film We All Forgot. Until Now. Aquamania!

1961 – Still fun, quality is always timeless!

Well, I never saw yesterday coming. WOW. 33 Comments! Oddly I have seen all the films on the list, and looks like I know have a great list for this winter. I will figure out how to show some of them through the winter as a fun film festival.

Goofy!

A huge thanks to our Dane Anderson, Our Director of Odd Research, found this 1962 Oscar Nominated AQUAMANIA, a Goofy Cartoon by Disney. It’s the best and somehow nails the entire boating experience in 8 minutes.

Oh ya

So today without further adooo. We start our Woody Boater International Nautical Film Festival. Okay we need a new name for this. WBINFF?

Hit it Goofy!

I’m going to throw this out to the group to see if anyone has a suggestion. It’s past time to repower Panther. What modern power would you suggest for a 1950 17′ Sportsman?

Small Block Chevy in some form. If you want it to look like a Chris Craft engine, a 350 in 283 dress is a good bet. Add an electric fuel pump mounted near the tank and HEI type ignition and it will give you modern car like starting and reliability with the late 50’s look.

Or you could go full modern with fuel injection and fresh water cooling on a modern Merc.

I put in a Volvo Penta D3 electronically controlled variable pitch turbocharged diesel. Didn’t win any prizes at the wooden boat show, but its a light motor with smooth power and fast

Maybe this is why Dad wouldn’t buy a boat. That didn’t deter me from buying several in my adult lifetime.

Yes a great Saturday morning cartoon! Tho I was worn out and sore after what Goofy and the Octopus went through! Great find! Just watched Steamboat Willie the other day while cruising Disney+ love those early simple animated cartoons…
Heading outside to organize the boat barn and shuffle the winter projects inside and untouched summer projects outside… NEVER HAVE ENOUGH proper storage space! The boats and I disagree on temperature and humidity…. Good for me is dry and warm… good for them is cool and not so dry….
Gonna be nice for next several days in Virginia, the leaves can wait as can last gasps for those still in the water….

Yep – all the boats are winterized and stored, docks and lifts out and all summer stuff put away so now it’s going to be in the 70’s and sunshine. The daffy year 2020 continues!

For many years we had a marina slip that faced the public boat launch which was very entertaining. Goofy trying to back his boat down the ramp looks about right.

Thanks for sharing. I wasn’t aware of this. No time right now, but I know what I’ll be doing for a bit this evening.
