$25,000 Kiddie Boat Ride. Wait? What?

25 cents a ride?

Okay, I am a freak for boat stuff. LOVE IT! We all know that by now. Waxing poetic about wood grain holding in the history of past summers. The warmth in your body with a good wiff of varnish. I could roll around naked in original leather interiors. Okay.. sorry for the visual this early..Sorry..

Okay, where were we? Wow, thats was a potential spelling disaster. Three W words in a row. Okay okay, dammm it, where was I? Oh ya a $25,000 Kiddie ride boat thing.

Amazing!

I have no doubt the person that restored this thing spent that money. in fact I would bet spent more. But? This invites the conversation of what a small boat work of art is worth. It’s smaller and could be put in your living room. Only if it matches your sofa of course.

Maybe the bedroom? Your spouse …. X spouse.. Okay ya.. This may not workout in the boudoir. After all your bed takes quarters already? No?

Ya gotta admit, it is cool as hell. The base alone is bad ass cool

So this leaves the barn, the “Gallery” Basement? And there ya have it. You can show folks your new boat. The one you paid 25K for. I would offer 24,500, and then its a steal. or Aluminum..

Ya know what? I am starting to justify this! I mean if this is something you would want to do. This is the less expensive way to do it. Dare I say, it’s a deal?

Does it have a new bottom? Fully restored means a new bottom. Is it 5200 or epoxy? I had an inboard model in my office years ago. Ended up being a shelf that had to be moved every spring and fall when the Harley came in/out.

I agree with m-fine, if I spend that kind of money, I want to put it in the lake and have my grandsons give grandpa rides in it.

Love that Elto pal on it. It would look good in a basement/recroom, with a nautical theme. Someone with deeper pockets than I should buy this.

If I were to pay anything even close to that kind of money for something like that, I would at least like the engine to not have a broken off skeg!

I really think it should have a raked bow pole and burgee, so I’ll pass. That and the fact I don’t have a pot to pee in puts it out of reach.

A little boat like that needs a 1949-1953 Chris-Craft outboard. They were made in two models: a 5.5HP Challenger or a 10HP Commander. Highly collectible.

Was this an actual coin op ride?If it was,I don’t see how it could be now.Base is wrong and I don,t see a coin receiver.Could it have been towed around a shallow pool in an amusement park?

After looking at ebay photos,it looks like it could have been driven in the water(perhaps by a little person, steering the outboard?)

Same basic hull as the two in the John F photo – highly modified and I agree – it does not look as if there is any motion left to be had unless the upper skirt is flexible… Someone spent a lot of time making a cute novelty out of one of these rides. 🙂
