N.O.S Props – The New Exhibit At Syd’s Text Message Museum.
The curators at the ever so exclusive museum of Syd’s Text Message Museum have unveiled it’s latest exhibit. NOS Outboard props. For those who of us that are not museum eficianatos. Efisheanatos? efishanautos? afishanado? Okay.. this word is clearly a 11th grade word. Hold on. Aficionado, there. Where was I? Oh.. N.O.S. is the term for New Old Stock. Stuff that didn’t sell and is still brand spanking new.
Who is this amazing curator Syd? Syd Marsdin has a never ending supply of stuff in his drawers, barn shelves and god only knows. Under the mattress? Are you actually still reading this dribble? Have we been trapped in our homes so long that my attempt at spelling aficionado is the sad highlight of the day? I had butcherd it so bad, even spell check couldn’t fix it.
Love the shape of that 3 blade. Would it be wrong to start with the prop and then find a boat to go with it?
Wheel written article today……Props to Syd for neat photos that didnt Screw us with too many synonyms …
Winterizing and shuffling boats into the Boat Barn today….the leaves can wait!…
Love it I wondered where you were going to head with it. A nice laugh to start Saturday with. That 3 blade is for a 4 cylinder Johnson from the late 20’s up to 31 I believe I have to go set fit it
I can add a NOS Prop box and Prop to this Prop Talk
Here’s some prop documentation.
Sorry picture did not transfer. 1961 Michigan Propeller catalog.
I’ve read that choosing a prop (pitch) should be based on the advertised RPM where the motor produces its highest horsepower. The best prop should result in that RPM being reached at WOT.
Well I’m ART, so hang me on the wall or just prop me in a corner, but interested to see if he has any Chris Craft Outboard props in his collection.
I have some Props!
Anyone want to model them?
If you find a worthy model, I’d be interested in going motorboating
We made this display with an old prop and a Mercury Outboard emblem.

Bought this one figuring I would find a boat for it sooner or later. Sometimes I do things backward. 24X48
After some research I found it was a test propeller for LOCKPATII when she had the PT Packard in it.
Brass props do make good decorations.
They are art! I’ve been looking for a while now to find 5 brass props for decoration. I don’t want something someone needs. More cool brass but no longer useful. If anyone has a selection of old styles, reasonable let me know.
