Dane’s Photos My Captions!
We got these wonderful photos from Dane Anderson of the canceled boat show up on Gull Lake, the good news, is they had the cruise. Which is a safe choice, and the only folks in deep trouble would be the ones at the tail end of the cruise with all the Covid drool from the boats ahead of them.

A HIGE THANKS TO DANE AND THE LAND O LAKES GANG for reminding us all that there are always wonderful moments even in 2020!
Awesome! We had a great time at the International up there.
Great photo’s as always Dane !!
Wow – This really makes me miss summer and boating! Only 5 months to go (very unhappy face right now).
Spank you very much, great pics and Matt needed break…
Wow, what a great group of boats. How I miss runs like that with the Michigan gang. Let’s hope for 2021!
What a fantastic group of boats!
Thanks Dane and Matt!
Dane always delivers! As I said here on WoodyBoater, the one bright spot in this Covid tragedy will be the rediscovery of the simple joys of a splash mob. Hard to beat the simple pleasures of a day on the water with fellow woody boaters.
That “young couple” in Blue Heron are Barb and Al Lindquist. Talk about a couple that gives back to the hobby! Barb is the longtime Treasurer of BSLOL and Al is the incoming President. Whenever something for the club needs to happen they’re there for the club. They also never miss a splash mob.
Barb was a pioneering pilot for Northwest Airlines, one of the first women to fly a 747. And Al was an air traffic controller. If you know Al and what a great and hilarious conversationalist he is, you can just hear him flirting with Barb as she was on an approach to MSP.
We had a great time and made a short week out of the trip. Burned a lot of fuel and got to take in Gull Lake. It was a good thing baby James was there to drive. Merry Christmas from Okoboji.
“I close my eyes remembering the warmth of yesterday”. If those pictures won’t do it nothing will. Great! Thanks for sharing Dane.
Wow! What wonderful photos! Pam and I had a great time at Gull Lake. We are looking forward to next year! Thanks Dane and Matt!
isn’t mike favilla on gull lake with his dodge watercar? i’m not seeing him… maybe i’m confusing the lakes.
Mike is a regular at the Gull Lake show but he didn’t make the 2020 Cruise.
got it – thx dane!
I think these cruises should be replacing the shows that are canceled if possible. Since the masks “work” that should be fine while launching and docking boats.
On another note…. very nice to see a GREAT variety of boats on the photos. Helps keep the flame lit. I mean I dig Chris Crafts but its nice to see some attention elsewhere when there are some good looking vessels out there. Really enjoyed the photos today. Glad to hear that everyone was still alive after the cruise.
Mercstun,
These cruise days are great in conjunction with a boat show too. In a normal year the cruise would have been on Friday. Since Gull is not home waters for many of us, it is nice to tour the lake. As a photographer I like to capture boats doing what they were meant to do.
The Michigan chapter tries to have on water events as part of all of our annual shows. We have a Friday and Saturday cruise as part of the Algonac show in June. Come join us!
Correction. I meant Friday and Sunday cruise for Algonac.
A great event/non event that we thoroughly enjoyed from a social distance! We towed Chris Mugge’s (Steelcraft fame)1963 Raven only to be bitten by the failed original steering cable. Thank heavens it was in front of the Bar Harbor docks. Hitched a ride with the Protextors and I got baby James detail. It was great just to see everyone, but of course from a distance!
Hmm, I don’t remember getting my invite.
Timeless!
Great article! Loved it! Still trying to figure out the one with “Mr. Allen” but they are all beautiful!
