Not Just A New Woodyboatermobile, But A New Way To Buy One!

2021 F250 Antimatter Blue – black out option

As reported several weeks ago, I asked if anyone out there was a Ford dealer. One loooongtime fellow Woody Boater raised his hand and said he could help. And holy crap did he ever. One of our longtime pals, Don Ploetner owns a cool company called  I-Deal Acquisitions .

Don on the right, and his doppleganger, Horrace Dodge

Which helps people find exactly, and I mean exactly what they want and need, and then knows how to negotiate the deal in a fair and reasonable way. You never talk to the dealer. Now I enjoy the process, always have, I suppose its because I know the business from the back end. Having done automotive marketing for 40 years, it’s kinda simple and the dealers are great guys. BUT, at some point they become salesmen, and all you are is a car sale. I have found its from years of being abused by customers. So someone that knows the process is a win win for the dealer and you the buyer.

Put the official decals on yesterday

Meet  I-Deal Acquisitions . THis is a no BS 100% good way to go. I-Deal is your dealer, your salesmen, your advocate, and with over 30 years in the business of car sales, knows how to navigate the process. Not only did I get what I wanted without any work, and I mean down to weather guard floor mats, The dealer delivered to my door. Mind you there isn’t a Ford dealer within 100 miles of me. I filled out the final paperwork and it arrived two days later at my doorstep. BAM.

Same color as the 1958 Apache

I-Deal Acquisitions isn’t a car/boat dealer killer, we need car and boat dealers. But the sales process has been broken for decades. And Auto Trader, Carvana, and others are hated by the dealers. Not because what you think, Those companies get money for the leads, and in a way worse than the dealers. Little secret, you can get a better deal without those places. BUT, with I-deal, you get it all. Because you pay I-deal. No secret back end money, kick backs.. money in the trunk crap.

And I have to say, he earned that fee over 100% from what I expected to pay in the first place. And here is the best part. He is a true Woody Boater. Knows the boats bigtime, and is family here.  He helped me spec the truck in ways I did not know about. The F250 is the perfect Woodyboatermobile.

Don and Addie. A wonderful sunset..tow in!

Don was the one responsible for Saving of Suzy now Scarlet, I cant recall her official name, we all called it Fat Ass.

They have owned some AMAZING BOATS!

I miss Don Sr.

Don Sr was the first to take a bow! Why does this old photo still bring a smile.. a vertical smile to my face!

You all know him and knew his day Don Sr, who was without a doubt the funniest guy around. Yes, he used to own a Cadillac Dealership on Staten Island. The stories. OH…MY…GAD! Vinny, Fat Tony, Twitchy Joe… AHHHHHHHHH!

Love the LED lights

That Power Stroke diesel is screaming “buy me a bigger boat to tow”. Nice truck, even if it’s not a Ram!

    Nice job Don!!

Been running Ford diesels for years. Love them! (Sorry Shannon)

My son still owns the 1990 F250 my parents ordered brand new with the 7.3na diesel.

Sandi and I are running the 2002 F250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke that her parents purchased new.

Here we are in front of the old Sea Skiff plant in Salisbury MD.

She has made the trip from Maine to Dora towing Gottago 3 times now.

Good combo Troy. They never should have quit using the 7.3. My Ford van has 330k + and motor still going strong except for those damn glow plugs. Original trans finally threw in the towel. Gets 20-21 mpg on highway/14-15 towing. Lots of torque. Its the 4 gallons of synthetic for oil change every 10k @$105 just for oil that hurts every now and then.

36′ of Canadian launch on a 40′ 3 axle trailer means the McDonald’s drive thru is out of the question.

Don and his I-Deal Acquisitions crew helped me get my land shark, a 50th Anniversary Red Corvette. A sweet ride and an award winner at car shows. Whole process was seamless and the savings were about double Don’s very reasonable fee. Thanks pal! 😎

Now all we need is somewhere to drive to! With case rates plummeting, we are on pace to be able to gather again by early Spring.

Badass! Love the business model! That’s roughly how it works out here with certain manufacturers. Hey dad… can you spot me for a German WB Mobile?

In my case I try to get a new GMC, Canyon, every two years…great dealer in Farmville Va. if he sold Fords or Studebakers..I would have one of those…
Seems to me a kink in the Matt version, cool as it is, is the trade in vehicle? That is where the dealer is making money on me…a creampuff, cared for, recent model trade in…but how do you get the best trade in price in the above scenario?
That said the concept as Matt found it is very interesting.

John to answer your question we deal with trades all the time. We work to get you the best value for your trade. If a client is not happy with the value of their trade we have moved on to another dealer to put a deal together that makes the client happy.

If you would like to talk further please let me know.

I’ve been driving Ford’s since I was 16. I have had a lot of fun with them, and they have served me well. Here is my 2000 F150. I have owned it for 20 years. Have pulled a lot of boats with it.

Dealerships seem to be going the way of malls, they earned that with the way they’ve treated customers. They held my 83 year old mother hostage in 2013 for hours while they “worked their deal”. I’d love to take that sales rep to the woodshed.

Hey Matt, last week you used your blog to make arrangements to haul your boat partway across the country then, you bought a new truck through the blog. It’s your blog so you can use it for deals and I assume you would not mind if others took advantage to the forum to make similar deals. I don’t have any deal in mind but wonder if it’s okay to ask in the comment section of the blog even if it does not relate to that days subject? Or would you consider a separate link on this site where deals could be nurtured?

Hi Mike, We tried to offer a classified page for years and it was just a spam magnet. And as much as the idea is cool, it doesnt ever happen. I try and avoid USING THE BLOG for financial gain to be transparent. BTW, woodyboater is the worst business model ever. Want to know why the App sucks? I got $20,000 reasons. HA. UGH.. In regards to using the comment section for deals, and such, it all depends if its on topic. AND NO SELLING! Those go to spam. I try and curate that stuff. That kind of stuff has trashed many a good website. BUT if y9u are looking to reach the citizens of Woodyboaterville, just email me you idea and I will help.. Free of charge.

Needing a truck that could safely tow my Red & White around the NW (and perhaps further in the future) I went the opposite direction and picked up a low-mile 1997 Chev c/k 3500 dually, Vortec 454. I only use a truck about 3K miles per year (max) to tow, go to the dump/recycle and landscape supply, so new makes no sense for my use. Now though, I probably have to get rid of my favorite truck, a 2003 Toyota Tundra Stepside Limited I’ve had for about six years. Just turned 100K miles last week. It can get the big boat to the lake, but not out of it and certainly not over the mountains, up and down the hills safely. It was perfect for “Sindbad” and I’m still considering making it my daily driver, but…. If I decide to get a new daily driver of some sort, I will definitely take a look at the process featured here! Thank you!

I-Deal. What a brilliant concept. Really enjoyed reading this story. Don was instrumental in finding the Blue Grey Arabian we restored at Katz a few years back and bought out to New Zealand. Love this business idea Don. I also love the name of the trucks colour. Antimatter Blue. Thats sure a ‘don’t mess with me’ name. Antimatter Blue Monster truck Matt. Very nice.
