It’s Saturday, And I Miss You All, Already!

Mr B says HI! He wanted to go to Dora. And hump on your legs!

Ahhhhh, the weekend! Something is missing though. Oh! I am not cramming a bunch of boat prep and t shirts for Lake Dora. UGH! and AHHHHH! The Railway has filled that time for sure. But I do miss the excitement of the trip to Dora as I know many of you feel the same way. But we will try and fill the pages with some of the Show Up’s stories. The Show Up’s are the folks that are going to Dora anyway and going to do what we all normally do. GO BOATING! And eat and drink  stuff we normally are told not to by our Doctors.

VanNess Special V8

Dialed in, has run for 12 hrs!

Set to go, go, go!

The good news here, is I am distracted by the New WECATCHEM Engine! It’s here and about to be installed. Dave VanNess went all out and built a Super V8 with all the goodies. A very cool low profile intake and special stuff inside. Cam, and so on. This was all done so we don’t have to change the engine cover, and wow, just wow.

Cleaned up and ready for concrete

Big Bubba has a parking spot now

The one thing though through this all I mess the most. Is you! Seeing you, meeting you, and talking about whatever. Looking at blurry photos of your boat, talking about that drywall screw you found, and being able to hand you a new 2021 T shirt. I am working on that BTW. And yes, The Sons Of Varnish Chapter deal is still there, but COVID kinda crushed all that for now. We did sell out of the Lake Dora Sons T shirts and all the profit from those will be sent to the Sunnyland Chapter. It’s not a lot, but it’s something and we all want that group to keep it all going. UGH, I miss all of you, and miss just sitting there in the tent and taking all the nutsoness in.

Timeless!

I know, I know, it seems like I just got a bit melancholy about all this. Sorry, it, all just hit me as I was writing this. I even miss the folks that complain about babes on shirts and too many skull satin images. I so need a Jalapeno Popper! Hell, I might even drink a beer!

 The Dora Stora! ugh

Matt, we all share your feelings. The Michigan gang is trying our best to get ready for our 2021 events, but know we will have to comply to what the covid monster does. We all hope he goes away ASAP!

Our gracious governor here in Ohio says that we can see the lifting of all mandates in 7-8 weeks…..which just about coincides with the Memorial Day weekend…..YAY! As we climb out of this abyss we’ve all been in for the last year, that is some great news indeed.

Sunnyland will come back better than ever. Up in Wisconsin we a thawing out and hoping for the best. Two events planned so far. One in June and one in August. Rich and I will also be heading to Tennessee in late September for our Glen L Boat Builders Gathering. So it won’t be a total train wreck this year. Hope everyone fairs well in 2021.

Lets keep our fingers crossed. Hopefully things all will open up for summer. I haven’t heard anything about Hessel. However I am hopeful. In the meantime Matt. How about a virtual St Patricks day boat show/party.

It’s been a struggle. Mourning is healthy. Knowing what gets us down makes it possible to remedy those things, and knowing that others share those feelings makes that remedy all the more effective. Looks like nascent plan is to get together just asap when this is over. First annual covid-free boat show?

Jeffrey, I don’t know what story your post is referring to but it seems you are mourning someone or something. If that is true, if you ever just needed an ear from one Woodyboater to another, I’m sure Matt would connect us.

John F: It’s been a long time dream of mine to experience Chesapeake Bay by sail. Do you know of anyone who would take a pilgrim from North Dakota out for a woody boat daysail? If not, it would at least be fun to get a first hand look at your fine trawler before passing through.
