Weeding Through The Torso’s!

,

mmmmm! What is that? Is there more HIGGINS here?

Yesterday right as I was leaving for lunch, a very nice man stopped by the Railway. To be honest, I was about to head out, and thought. Okay. this will be about asking to use the Railway. NOPE! He mentioned that he was going to sell his house and it was loaded with boat stuff. Old lights, parts and a Chris Craft that needed refinishing. OH! I thought. Well this is gonna be interesting. I said, I can follow you there right now. And so I skipped lunch, and headed there.

Driving in a trance

Images of old gold were ripping through my head. Maybe an old triple, blue Flatheads, Iva Lights, and Duplex cans. I had already figured out how to get it all out of there, even before I got there. YES, I KNOW.. It never plays out like that. But at this point, I was in a trance, and that is fun. Like playing the lottery, its not about the prize, its about that mila second of hope you feel right before…you loose. The what if? The mystory.

Is that a vintage V8 Can?

So we pull up and go inside. The house is a wonderful gingerbread thing I have loved for years, and now I was able to go in the barn and look around. And clean it out if I wanted to. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

One shot gold, and a bunch of unfinished boat models.

Well? WARNING TO MYSELF. My A.D.D can consume me. I start spinning around. It’s overload. Like going to the mall over Christmas. I get a headache and can’t take it all in, trying to weed through the torso’s and old whatever the hell that is’s.

Yup. A Torso!

I am feeling bad, because the kind man is waiting as my eyes dart around trying to see if anything is here? Slowly reality is creeping in, like the lottery moment when you see that you didnt even win $1 and that the bag of Cheeto’s you got with the ticket are the real prize.

About 14 feet, plywood, and cool for sure

Trojan?

Hard seats, simple dash. I thought maybe a baby Higgins Gamefisher? But the transom design is way to fancy? The deck as well. Any idears?

Or is it? And more important. WHAT IZ IT? So hopefully today you can wonder around and experience my dizzyness. I suppose the gold I found was a day of a story. The plan is to go back and dig through and pull out any boat related stuff and maybe, there is some true pearl in there.

Lights

Old fishing stuff

Cool Boat model, still in the box.

Hardware. ugh. And at this point I realized that treasure is all over the place, and sadly, I dont want to wind up with a barn like this. But that torso is kinda cool..mmmmmm

Couple of old pump organs, maybe someone can play the blues on them about this place. They’re really not worth much even if they are in operating condition. I’ve played a few and they’re mainly for nostalgia. Looks like someone was in the Mason’s Guild.

Let’s play what other things in here are not like the others.

There’s some treasure in there for sure.

What is that small white boat up by the window? Big enough for a child?

And I think the Railway needs an 8-track player.

The transom and rear part of the deck look like a Whirlwind my dad once had. Is it a cold molded plywood hull?

The back pocket wear on the torso guy looks like someone used smokeless tobacco (dip) and kept the tin in there.

Gotta take the old V8 can to go along with your new Van Ness engine.

The boat may be a chris craft kit boat as the front deck/bow area looks almost identical to the kit boat I have.

I am thinking you should just buy the whole property. You are almost done fixing up the railway and this barn would make a great new project full of lots of stories.

The house could be used for visiting WoodyBoaters.

You never know what you might find in an old barn.

Didn’t someone comment earlier this week, that they were looking for nautical stuff to decorate a bar? Perhaps Matt would share this wealth of cool old boat stuff, with that reader.

The shop has great natural lighting but its so full you couldn’t do anything, kind of like my garage and basement. Space exists in which to fill. I’ve always wanted to take an outboard donation like that and start an Explorers Boy Scout Troup to promote boat restoration and woodworking skills. The liability of such an endeavor is, unfortunately, a dream killer.

I know I saw a snowboard and some skis I think, maybe some wood ones ! .
I think a virtual auction with Matt as auctioneer would clean that place right up !.

These things hanging next to the Higgins emblem are boarding ladder hangers. Someone is probably looking for some of those.
