Barnfinds Finds The Hydro. Now It Gets Interesting.

,

Oh boy!

For the record, between Facebook, Ebay, and Woody Boater, the word is out regarding the Hydro. Now Barnfinds has found it and so the car world is all over it. So, it is fare to say that whatever it sells for now, is what it’s worth. The market will show itself. From some whacko car guy that is used to dumping huge bucks into dumb projects, to two boat people that have to have it.

Game of Bids

It’s also cool as hell to watch. The market will decide since its been out there now. Which is a double edged sword for the seller. Cause one person on the hook might pay more. But its all gonna come down to the last 30 seconds of the ebay deal, and it is possible that someone that might have paid 20K for it might get it for 14K.

yada yada yada sold

If you think this is unique to our world, it isnt. Used cars are valued this way. Auctions dictate the value a dealer will pay you. Some are worth more some less than what the factory thinks. THere is no rule in this world. Just supply and demand.

OJ!

Trust me, the snipers are all waiting quietly in the wings on this sucker. This is like the Who Shot JR episode meets Final episode of mash and The OJ Bronco chase all wrapped up in our little warped wood boat nut world!Still want to see It on ebay? –  CLICK HERE!

    Matt,
As someone who has dealt with EBay for 20 years or so here’s the scenario I see playing out on the Hydro. With only 3 bids so far and 3 days to go, the bids won’t increase a whole lot before the scheduled end of the auction. The seller will wait until a couple minutes before the auction closes and if it doesn’t look like he’s getting the money, he’ll end it early with “no sale.” The car dealers do it with regularity. We might see it posted again on EBay or another platform in the future

The seller would be a fool to do that in this case since its had so much exposure. But? Could be.

It’s like a lot of things in life, we will see what tomorrow brings. I’m still upset about the white Bronco slow chase. I didn’t have a dish at the time. It was on all the channels I got, I missed Cheers that night. Thank God for reruns😃

It’s being sold for an estate, so I doubt that they would pull the listing and try again later. It will sell on Saturday for a decent amount.

I restored one of those for a client a few years back. It was a six figure restoration and it took several years on the market for it to sell for less than half. The owner never even picked it up. It went straight into storage and was put up for sale. 🤷‍♂️

Lots of ignorant comments from non wooden boat people on Barn Finds. Thanks for throwing your opinion in Matt. To any antique boat enthusiast, this is a significant and rare boat that deserves restoration. Yup, totally impractical and probably a money pit, but still worth it.
