It’s Concrete Day At The Railway HQ

The first boat on the rails this season. Seems fitting. We had to refit the power because of the new doors

What a nutso week. Between Zoom calls in 1 hr slivers of freedom, getting the boats ready has worn me out. Up at 4AM and to bed at 8PM. This morning at 2AM to get stuff up and running before the concrete gets here at 8AM and gotta get Sweet Pea done before 8 or I am toast with the Boatress.

The view out the doors in the office. COOL AS HELL.

Slow and steady

Dirty bottom but tight and strong

OUCH, that explains alot.

Powerwashing is a internet thing BTW.. Crazy

Meanwhile in the parts room. We have baby birds. Almost stepped on this little one.

Are you my mother?

Yip getting outta there before the concrete blocks her in for a couple days

WECATCHEM’s almost done. The W is there waiting to go to her new home at the railay. Will be all dialed in and set up for storage.

I agree. Fiber reinforced might last a bit longer, but the span is too large to get away without rebar or metal mesh.

Do it right the first time. It’s a lot cheaper.

Skip the wire mesh go only with the rebar. Rebar strengthens the concrete and don’t forget to add fiberglass to the concrete. When the concrete cracks if your pouring 4 inches and it will, the mech kinda holds things together before the wire rusts and everything comes apart.

that is one hefty powerwasher? Even blows away barnacles.
Do be careful breathing that undersea crap when airborne…just nasty.
Nice work going on there…really like the railway updates.

Preaching, or teaching, about power washing techniques and practices on painted wood surfaces would / could be enlightening and perhaps entertaining – –

The concrete is speced per permission by the county. Its on the water and needs to be what it is. BTW, no driving on it. Designed to just be a work area that you can stand on with ladders etc. Its coming out like gravel. Its a different type of concrete.

Regarding reinforcement has only been used in the US for about 135 years… if the railway predates that then you’re just period correct.
