33rd Annual Antique & Classic Boat Festival at St Michaels

Moby Dick” was the party vessel of the weekend. The 1966 Marinette 28’ aluminum cruiser is owned by Bob and Alicia Boardman.

A huge thanks to Kent O. Smith Jr for the amazing images and story by Bob Hamilton, Exec VP of the Chesapeake Bay Chapter. Never quite sure what an exec VP is? If the P dies or is ousted for some sort of Cancel Culture Fopa, does the Exec VP step in? Or is the exec VP an exec of the VP? And in boating? Do I want to even hear the term Exec?  or VP? Maybe we should change the titles to, Person that steps up to the plate and words tirelessly for free, managing bitch sessions and dumb requests? Gets no thanks, and a plastic trophy at the end of it all. Wow, that just wondered into a deep dark area. Maybe we just use the term Vice of Vices? Anyway, below is the official report.

It’s all spelled right, makes sense, and actually tells us something. Mmmmm? Maybe we need an exec VP after all.

A line of Lymans beside a pirate ship.

Ebby duPont’s 1931 Chris Craft 20’, “Pappy.”

Stanley Boardman running his Boston Whaler Mischief. Stanley served as Chief Judge and may be the youngest chief judge in the history of ACBS.

Boat rides were a big hit with Lymans and Jersey Skiffs delivering on both ends of the speed spectrum and divers with vintage diving equipment had demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday.

Smiles and thumbs up on board “Donna Jean,” a 1933 Chris Craft 18’ owned by Chip Paradis.

Jeff Beard organized ten seminars over Friday and Saturday on a variety of topics about cruisers and the origin of Old Bay.

A plethora of boats for sale in the Field of Dreams – mahogany, fiberglass, plywood and aluminum craft offered plenty of choices for one wanting to get into the hobby or expand their collection.

Looks like a cool place to visit, even without the boat show. What a variety of wonderful watercraft. They put together a first class event that had to be enjoyed by all that participated. Thank you Kent and Bob for the great report!

“Mi-T-Mo,” a 1953 65’ Navy tug boat sounds very interesting. Sounds like a couple of stories on this boat would be welcome. I don’t why I’m so intrigued by them. Maybe it was because my dad had built a tug boat model when I was about 5 and the detail he put into was amazing. Sure wish I had that on my shelf. Maybe its the graceful lines and the work boat function of a tug that’s so interesting. And the fact that its probably running a pair of Detroit diesels that would be music to my ears.

Thanks for the great pictures and write up! I’m looking forward to the Algonac show this weekend, but it could be a rainy affair.

I also love the picture with the sunrise. How can I get a higher resolution version? Great screen background.
