ABOAT – A New Word In The Woodyboaterville Dictionary

My varnish is ABOAT to dry

ABOAT: The time while you are waiting for some part service, or varnish to dry for your woody boat., and your spouse is complaining.

The spouse part is the most important part of the meaning. There has to be nagging. The kind that makes you call your marina, mechanic, etc and ask.. Use some sort of excuse like, I have family coming this weekend? But what you really mean is, my wife, husband is bitching at me because they want to go boating and think I am being taken advantage of, when you really know what’s going on. But it’s easier to bother someone else.

I need to walk away! She is ABOAT to go off

This ABOAT is a family word that can also relate to “I have to ask the wife” Which is total BS, cause you already know it’s NO! ABOAT is that time where you have to wait for that part to be found, the chrome shop, fix the fuel leak. WHEN CAN WE GO BOATING? In ABOAT an Hr. WHAT? I mean 1/2 Hr.. When you really know its 2 hrs if you are lucky and dont have some sort of back spasm while contorting yourself in the engine compartment.

I am ABOAT to go full hammer!

And if you speak Canadian, well.. It is what it is. Get Out There Today!

It’s not a fender, its a boil.

HAPPY HEADER DAY!

I don’t comment about every article, but I thoroughly enjoy them, and never miss one. All the pics burst with color and detail, while the older pics carry one back to the days. Not a lot of Woody Boaters down here in Arkansas but we love our lakes, streams, and wildlife.

Aboat is a common word here in da U P. It is a nothern way of pronouncing about. Example, Its aboat an hour from here eh, or my favorite “it’s aboat Busch Lite time.”

Ha! I remember that picture, and that moment! Yes I was waiting, waiting for a different kind of a leak at the restroom on Lake Chelan during the 55 miles up the lake to Stehekin National Park.
