Maybe A Little Souvenir From Coeur d’ Alene While We Wait.

,

Vintage Boating, before it was vintage boating.

While we wait for more reports from the big International I thought it might be fun to share some souvenirs from the past to illustrate how much history Coeur d’Alene has. To be honest, I HAD NO IDEA! If I had known its rich heritage as a vacation spot since the early 1900’s I might have .. well still not gone. Hell, I am not thrilled going to the Hardware store these days. Two deaths from COVID just this past weekend down the street here, and we are seeing a 250% spike in cases here. UGH!

Cool!

But a huge thanks to Steve Lapkin for going into the Combat zone to harvest images. I know, I know, why even bring all this crap up? Can’t we just enjoy the splendor of Coeur ‘d’ Alene without the cloud of Covid Crap over our heads?  Well, one thing is for sure, if we go back in time, we are always safe from Covid… Aids? Polio? Ebola, Sars, Legionnaires Disease, not so much. But hey, I can sit here, eat some bacon and buttered toast. mmmmm and a little whisky in my coffee. Okay this kinda just went off the Electric Rails.

Electric Trains!

Fun seeing the nostalgic photos of days by gone. Walked the plank yesterday to ogle the boats. Can you get tooth decay from eye candy? Great turnout with woodies and classic boats everywhere. The Coeur d’ Alene Resort has to be the Premier venue for an International Show. Had a great round of golf at the Resort course and wonderful dinner at the Cedars floating restaurant. Awards banquet tonight and flying home tomorrow. Loving it.

“for god’s sake. It’s Friday.” I’ll admit that you actually made me look at my phone to see if today was really Saturday. Wouldn’t be the first time I didn’t know what day it is.

You got a neat collection of old cda post cards here. I have attached one of the old fish inn, which is no longer around, alas.

btw there are some fabulous boats at the show. We are particularly thankful for those who towed them from long distances to be at the show. I assume steve will be posting more after the awards are announced this morning.

These posts make me think of our trip out there. Another shot of Lake Couer de Alene. circa 2019. That seems like a long time ago
