In the hatch. Life jackets, Anchor, lines and something very odd
One of the most fun parts of cleaning out a Barn Find is, well, finding stuff frozen in time. You can just back story stuff and get an idea of what life was like back in the day. It’s clear that she was a VERY well loved boat, but in rural Virginia back in 1975 one did have many options for a new bottom. Add to that, age of owner, and maybe other stuff, and the boat just got set aside. But was LOVED.

1944? 1941? Did these belong to Baby Chick 3?

I absolutely love old type like this.

Cool graphics – but so badly shot, May just take the type off and frame that? Dumpster?

CORK!

Booty from her Booty

ADULTS ONLY!

Old line and a pile of?

WTH? Metal? What is that? I think I know.
Sportsman sit a little Starboard. At least WECATCHEM does and some others I have seen. Like just a bit? Is it possible that it Drove the owner crazy and he used this area for weight and a way to keep the bow down with weight when he was alone? I do know from the family that he was ALWAYS messing with Props and trying to max out speed?

WAIT! Is this the Chyler 8 Head? WTH? Its in a bunch of pieces. I didn’t pull it out. Honestly I was amazed I didn’t get bit by anything digging in there. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
STAY TUNED, More Milking in progress.

I think those life jackets are from the Titanic. A lot of wall hangers for the marina. Have fun!

Definitely a head. I only see three pockets so I might guess a V6, but maybe Jim can identify it.

3 cylinders could be half a V6, or maybe it is from a vintage Geo Metro engine.
Reddog
Just half a straight 6 head

or 1/3 of an 8 cylinder head.
Take a picture of the top of the head. I can tell the difference between the brands.

Definatly a flathead. Could be the head off of an old v6 industrial engine. Maybe an old Wisconsin or a Continental ?

What’s your plans for this fine old yacht ?
Matt
My plans are to leave it alone. I have a perfect restored one and LOVE IT. It is without doubt the best boat they ever made. Any of the owners of this model will swear on it, not at it. Its no real surprise many are one family boats. Thats the proof. Right now its a great gallery for all my old ratter cool stuff. Oh and use it to milk some more stories. STAY TUNED

“Cork” bag was from the Armstrong Cork Co., Lancaster, PA, my first employer, makers, then, of cork tiles for flooring.
