A Huge Thanks For Your Donations. WARNING: And A Rant For Warren.

Today I am going to use happy boat images to balance my spew

When I started writing yesterdays story I was just talking about spelling and little issues of Woody Boater that always seem to be broken. I DID NOT INTEND TO MAKE IT A DONATE DAY. But it did, and was very nice. Actually emotional for me. You all chipped in and WOW. It all helps.

Sunset rides. Warm days with warm smiles

Yesterdays donations added up to $1,400 and that is a wonderful dent in the yearly expenses. Even the Boatress was somewhat impressed. BTW I could win the lottery and she would be “Somewhat impressed”. Imagine living with me? Ya, Sorry.. That may have caused you to loose your Morning Joe.

A pile of mulch

WARNING: THIS IS A PERSONAL RANT AREA. I AM WRITING THIS FOR MY SANITY!  I AM VENTING!  I SHOULD JUST WRITE IT AND DELETE IT. So enjoy!

It got cold all of a sudden

A strange twist at the end of the day provoked me to speak out. Warren a commenter brought up the issue of 501C3 status, or am I using the money for a hobby, or using it to keep the boats floating. In other words, zero trust as to my motivations.

Feel the warmth!

Warren was also keen to point out that we are NOT a 501C3 entity, and therefor you can not write off the donation. YES, we are not, nor will it ever be. I am part of a bunch of those and trust me. It makes no real difference.

Feast

I ask this. Warren, you go out for dinner, you take some people with you. The bill comes to $60. Do you ask if this is a tax deductible donation? What is the restaurant doing with the money? Are you enjoying it? You then go to a Movie for free, Walk in and enjoy or not the film. You do that for years. And one day there is someone in the lobby with a donate button, no pressure, no nothing. Warren, do you stop and ask where is the money going?

The perfect photo

Trust me, as someone that gives way to much, it’s embarrassing to even ask. I am doing very well. This is my Golf club membership, my stupid expense, the kind we all do in some sort of other way. For me its a win win, I get to market something. Classic Boating, help grow the community and maybe help some newcomers to the community in an open arms way. NO STRINGS ATTACHED. I have tried to help the ACBS, and The CCABC for decades, and even they are confused about my intentions. As if WoodyBoater is competition, or worse, another company to ask for money from. I am asked weekly for money from clubs and other classic boat entities. Really? One gives gives gives and then all that happens is you are asked to give more.

A place to disappear from reality

Our sponsors, and supporters. I am humbled and grateful in any small way to be helped with this folly. Its my windmill. I ask once a year, and that takes me months to build up the courage to ask. I HATE IT. I even have people at my company that dont tell me about billing. It changes the relationship with clients as to my intentions. YA, I am mental this way. But I am motivated by kindness, and wanting to help. I am the idiot that insists on paying for dinner for everyone at the table when the bill comes.

I am trying to just calm down

Sorry for the rant/vent, and mental drain. I have been working on keeping WB going. Negativity and selfishness is the biggest drain. Not the subject matter. or money. So to Warren, Horace, Dim, and others like you. Take your stained underpants spew someplace else, you are the Herpes of humanity. From this point on, you are banned. I will spam your comments, and do whatever possible to remove you from my and others happiness. Our little universe does not appreciate your selfish ignorance. I no longer want to Hate The Hate.

Peace and Love to all!

IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND MISSED YESTERDAY, HERE IS THE DONATE BUTTON AGAIN. Ya, I am over being embarrassed.

If you wish to Donate to Woody boater and keeping us FREE to all. you can do that. HERE.

I went to donate yesterday and realized that you never paid for the engine parts I sent. Why did you not pay? I never sent an invoice. Why did I not send an invoice? I had to locate one part elsewhere and asked the guy for an invoice. His response was “don’t worry about it you helped me out”. So I’ll pass it on. Don’t worry about it you help us all out. It’s that kind of hobby. Well except for a few.

Bless his little heart, poor Warren just wanted some recognition. Wish granted! Henceforth, he shall be known as a Seagull. Ante up, head to Dora, and let’s go boating!

I can attest to this. You need to be sneakily proactive to pick up a tab when Matt is around. Best to slip the waitress a credit card well before the bill comes, and don’t let Matt find out until it’s too late!

We should all do this when at Dora, and see if we can drive him absolutely nuts!

I too have been on the receiving end of Matt’s generosity.

I have learned from the master! When it comes to the end of the meal he all of a sudden needs to make a trip to the head. When the waitress (sorry wait person) comes make, low and behold the evenings dinner is covered. It kind of becomes a game like m-fine described.

Oh and for the record I actually brought up the 501c3 status yesterday because I don’t want Warren of anyone else getting into trouble for trying to write off their donation.

      Dora can’t come soon enough.

wow, you miss a few days at WB, so exciting. Anyone who is an inspiration to this hobby spends their own money to help promote it. It’s the way it works, those who just take are not helpful and not wanted. Give a little get a lot. Chin up, you’re a fine inspiration to the hobby.

On a completely different note – standing ovation to the photographer who captured today’s header shot. Caught at the perfect moment! Makes it look as though the dog is standing on just one leg & ON the water.

We are a family and sometimes may be perceived as “dysfunctional” from time to time.
We do however, put the “fun” in dysfunctional and naysayers and outsiders dare not try to demean or berate our efforts to keep our WoodyBoater community whole. Nor attack our members beliefs, efforts or the hard work of our lead dog, Matt.
Goodbye to the Warrens, the Karens and the other haters who are just damn jealous of our quirky family. Good riddance.

I gave yesterday, always pick up the dinner tab too and would just blow off the BS and Go Boating….but they got 6 inches at the boat and it is now getting above freezing…I will go next week. Like the weather boating pals…let’s all chill out and make reservations for Dora!

Matt, we know that you will buy dinner, but come on, we all benefit from your rants every Day, and tip you NOTHING. Well let’s hope that stopped yesterday!!!

Now before you block me I would like to make a couple of suggestions.

    • I think that you should make the “donation” category a permanent part of YOUR/OUR site.
    • I would like to see more options for “donations”

    • $25 $50 $100 $200 $500 $2MILLION PASEOS ONETIME DAILY ANNUALLY OTHER.

    • Aaaaand you could use your creative juices and label them: $25 Bilge scum, $500 The boatress loves you, etc.

There are always those few that Jim alludes to who ruin it for the rest. Got a call from a chapter member who asked if I had a carb for a Chrysler Ace needed for his launch to make a show. I said yes and he asked what I wanted for it and I said just replace it when I find another. Well, all of a sudden he doesn’t remember that situation. Now he can enjoy his 33′ launch at his lake house and at shows. You know who doesn’t have a lake house? Me, I don’t have a lake house or a 33′ launch. So when I sold the Ace to a “friend”, he said it needs a carb so that cost me $150 our of the $500 friendly sales price I got beat down to, and then had to have Mike Malarky make me a new one because, you know, I don’t have the resources my boating friends have for carbs. But they all have got lake houses. SO apparently I am a 501c(3) charity (as you are Matt) whether you want to be or not, just not recognized by the IRS.

Matt, for some reason I have paid particular attention to the Brass Bell this month! Steve did a nice job including WoodyBoater on the cobra story.
Firming up plans to head to Dora with Scott Mason, our chapter past president and current treasurer of ACBS National. He too is a giver. Please reserve a duplex cup and “Life in the past Lane’ T-shirt for me!
