Every now and then some whackadoodle thing stops me in my tracks. And today is one of those days. I was searching my usual search terms on Ebay and Facebook marketplace. My replacement of craigslist which has been ruined by all sorts of crap. Anyway, I digress. From the lead image you already are reading and wondering. Why? And then that changes to, WOW, thats my speed. But? And so the debate ensues.

The $10K price tag is a commitment, but not as large as the fella that built it was. So a commitment Or should be committed? Either way, this person nailed it. The metal seats are cool as hell. Sadly I would have stained it and sealed it in a different way before glassing over it. But? Thats life!
The battery charger still there says it all. He is done with this project. Not enough emotional energy to clean her out before the images
And here is where it gets even cooler. This is an entire category of classic car nuts. Like us, but with Model A’s and hot rods. From a marketing POV I would have parked this on a beach or track and framed it in a more serious setting. It needs the frame of art vs the frame of crazy collector person.

Ha hah you nailed it! Very cool and the comments about losing interest (battery charger and not cleaning) are spot on for those of us who have WAY too many projects and finally admit to letting them go…..NOT that Ive been able to do so personally.. Agree it should have been stained darker but still cool…. As I age I have to stop looking at “impractical” acquisitions and focus on the ones I have. But cool none the less!
Agreed that “on track” would have made a better background for photos. Buyer could bring it to Blackhawk Farms Raceway, on Father’s Day weekend & get on track! Either do parade laps for charity at lunchtime or “race” it in group 1. Always several excellent photographers, capturing images at the event.
That looks like a great event to attend. Why wouldn’t they highlight it on their web page??

Looks like the track’s website is still highlighting the May events! Guess they’re slow to update. The Father’s Day weekend event is put on by the Vintage Sports Car Drivers’ Association & more info can be found at vscda.org. It’s a great event, with some father/son & father/daughter teams sharing a car for Saturday afternoon’s 55 min enduro. If you decide to attend, be sure to find us & say hello. Look for the #32 & #37 Minis & my #84 Unipower GT.

It’s funny but a few car manufacturers way back in the day designed specialty cars with similar “boat tails” and called them speedsters. I guess the aerodynamic look made it appear faster.
With those metal seats and hard suspension springing this should be called the gland bruiser.

The big 100 year birthday party is on a roll.
A month before the event, we have 70 boats registered. 13 are over 40 ft. and 8 are over 30 ft. We are close to our docking capacity, but will continue to land display additional registrations and if requested, judge boats on trailers.
We are also putting together a Chris Craft history tent that will be on the grounds of the show. Much of that material is from our old time Michigan gang, including some former Chris Craft employees!
Everybody come join the party!

Quite a find a Matt. Looks like either a 1930 or 31 Model A chassis. You are right Bilge Rat. Many car companies did offer a boat tailed speedster. Packard did, Auburn did and I believe Cord and Dussenburg did also. Many’s people bought aftermarket bodies for Model A’s and T’s This guy took matters into his own hands. I think someone should buy it and drive it to Algonac in June. Maybe me!

I can relate to the whole giving up thing. Bought my boyhood dream car in 1988 and drove the wheels off it. It sat in the garage for years with a “someday” tag on it. Almost sold it as is a few times. Retired a few years ago and someday finally came. Now she’s good as new and we’re having fun again.
