We Never Ride Alone

,

Thankyou

Memorial Day is one of those days that has somehow lost its true meaning. For many its a symbol of the start of summer, taking time off, and enjoying the freedom of the outdoors. Of course, we can do all those things because of the sacrifices of others. Not just the service men and woman who lost their lives protecting us, but all the loved ones they have left an empty spot in their hearts.

I am going to take a ride with?

So what can we do today to remember?  Here is an idea. Today, please take one of those lost souls for a ride. If you have a friend, or family member that helped make days like today possible, take them out in spirit, and just go wherever you want. Thats what today is about. The freedom to do what you want, and be with those you want to be surrounded with.

Where do you want to go?

And if I don’t say it enough. I THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR AND YOUR LOVED ONES SACRIFICE.

I would like too especially remember the unsung and untold numbers of Merchant Mariners that lost their lives sailing on very slow ships across torpedo infected waters to keep the troops supplied. As well as the people that built those ships in record numbers. In particular the 143 cadets of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy that were lost in WWII. The only U.S. Federal Academy to experience such losses to its Cadet Corps and today carries a Battle Standard recognizing Cadet service in WWII and every conflict since.

There is a fantastic book by SAM MOSES titled. “ AT ALL COSTS.” It is about two Merchant marine sailors who helped turn the tide of WWII.

A few years ago a couple of guys in the Algonac area got together and purchased a pontoon boat, modified it so it was wheel chair assessable, talked the Township into letting them use the Township pier, where they can load VETS and take them for a boat or fishing trip.

That’s cool by its self, but the really neat thing is that they do it all summer.

Thanks guys and THANKS TO ALL THE VETS
