Happy Daughter “In Love” Day.

Family

This year at the age of 63, I became a father again.  As you may recall we had a wedding here at the Global HQ. And of course I am fully aware of the formal nature of such a thing. The father in law thing. But what I did not expect, emotionally is the complete warmth I would feel. The same feeling I had when my two sons were born. I now officially have a daughter. Yes, the legal term is a daughter in law. But the legal term is just not a true description.

She is my daughter, and her fathers daughter of course. But we are all one family now. To say “in law” seems somehow less. It kinda says, ya, she really isn’t my daughter, unless you look at the contract. I have the same feelings for my other future Daughter in law – love, Kelsey, they are not married yet, but might as well be. Kids these days.

Can’t we just change the term to “In Love”, vs “In law”. I mean do we really need in law anything. They are my Daughters, and regardless of the legal terms, I am so dam proud to be their Father In Love. Ya, thats sounds strange. Maybe “Father in Law” is best. Ya, Can’t an old man just say how much he loves his girls anymore. Okay wait, women, I mean ladies. Daughters? “Daughters in laws”. Dam it. Wow this ditch I am digging is getting deeper and deeper. At least I am not alone. We can all just sit here and drink alone. It is Fathers Day after all. We can do whatever we want to do. Of course will pay for it for the other 364 days. After all……

Wait, tomorrow is 6 Days til Algonac!

Nice thoughts Matt, and we are all now in Algonac mode regardless of the number of days.
Happy Father’s Day to all WoodyBoater fathers and captains out there!

Matt, I’m anticipating the day when you have grandkids and they mispronounce a word or refer you as some sort piece of equipment and for the rest of your life you are known “Toaster Man.” or something along those lines. Happy Father’s Day to you and all the dads out there.

I don’t have a daughter in law yet. I hope to have one someday. Happy Fathers Day to all woody boaters. I know that I have posted this picture before, but is one of my favorite pictures of Dad. Miss him today and every day.

How many guy friends do we all have that refer to their wife’s children as son or daughter vs referring to them as step. We all know their history why be reminded of their past. They are now a new family.
