The New Official ACBS Judging handbook handed out at this years big International Show.

Well, here we are, September. UGH.. Next, is Pumpkin Spice drink season, and then countdowns to Dora so we all don’t slit our wrists, or worse, sell our boats. NOOOOOOOO!  So it looks like another period of Sausage to keep us afloat. Yes I know there is a big show up in Vermont. Q the crickets. Not a peep, and so it goes. We do have the big International here in Reedville though. We are a Global HQ after all. maybe 50 boats, that may or may not be floating, and a whole lot of belly whacking. Poorboy’s, beer, and a party at HQ on Friday night.

Richard is pouting while Jean is scared that Richard doesn’t seem to be concerned about the bilge pump not working well.

Boating in Arizona. You can also boil some weiners while boating

Not sure what Roy there is doing, But he is about to burn Gloria. And then some real ship is going down.

Somewhere in Washington State. Not sure what a U-Drive is

MG’s… Just to poke the beast.. Note both are just sitting there.

Barbara and her mom are discussing Barbaras first year of marriage to John, and well, John isnt the man she thought he was. He spends way to much time with this boat, he is always working on this dam boat.

I WANT, no wait, I NEED one of those doughnuts.

GERTIE! In a post card, a rare 1938 Chris Craft 19 Sportsman.

  1. Bilge Rat

I still have that MGB sales brochure that led me to buy my first MG about 48 years ago! That led to another MG, an earlier MGA which led to wood boats since the growing family could not all pile into the two seater.

No bilge pump issues in the MGs, but plenty of other Lucas electrical challenges. Lucas, the prince of darkness!

I had a ’71 MGB-GT and it was the most fun to drive of any of my numerous cars, over the years. That includes a ’69 Mustang Mach 1 that I drove way too fast!

  2. Greg Lewandowski

A really great collection of vintage photos and explanatory comments today. I especially like the ACBS Judging Handbook. Another six weeks of boating left in Michigan. That’s what sweatshirts and blankets are for!

  3. John Rothert

you nailed it with the judging handbook!

John in Va…..hoping to drag new knee to Reedville show this weekend!

And the good old days of mom and pop diners. Looks like the delivery man got the last powder coated chocolate donut. I don’t miss the days of full ashtrays on the counter next to your food and what diner provides vinegar cruets every few feet? They must’ve had some good french fries or fried fish. Could use some fresh paint as well.

Why do the British drink warm beer? They have Lucas refrigerators… My first thought on that ad was “My boat’s faster than your car!” I miss my B-GT, but will be on the water in “Sindbad” this evening, so not all is lost and the summer is not quite over yet!

  6. Rabbit

The nearing end of boating season is indeed depressing. That’s why you need to have something to look forward to over the winter. So, after a long cruise on Rabbit on Saturday, I built a fire at the cabin and started reading my collection of vintage ski magazines.

Also, besides Reedville and International this weekend, it’s time for the Land-o-Lakes Classic Boat Club “Real Runabouts” show on Lake Minnetonka. Yes, the Tonka show plays second fiddle to our club’s big show (that brings out the big guns!) at Gull Lake but it’s still a great show. Report to follow, if Dane and his camera are there.

BTW: Gertie is a great name for a boat.
