That’s Really All I Desire. Not A Riva, Not A Railway, Just The Beautiful Work Of Art On My Bow.

Rabbit sitting very preaty

Rabbit has a small desire. Okay, lets make Rabbits dream come true. Certainly someone out there in the Woodyboaterville community has one they would part with. After all you would be fulfilling a life long dream.

A nice new old cool cleat – Artist depiction of Rabbits dream

But I ask you this Mr Rabbit. Will you really be content? I mean deeply happy? Or will the simple gesture turn into a new desire? Maybe you will go off the rails and start desiring some young babe? I mean? Rabbit? Desire? Do you really want to go beyond a simple bow ornament? Maybe this little anchor thing actually is keeping your family together?  OKAY, for the record, that maybe got a tad dark. Sorry, wow, maybe I am internalizing.. Okay, here is Rabbits note. I will slither away in my padded cell now.

I see it! We all dream..

“I’ve looked for a Gar Wood anchor thingy for years to no avail. Perhaps the vast network of Woody Boaters could help me locate one. That’s really all I desire. Not a Riva, not a railway, just the beautiful work of art on my bow.

I mean, it’s like buying a Rolls Royce and not have a “Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament… even though a 16-foot utility is no Rolls Royce.

Good luck with the migration to the new server. And, as always, thank you for all you do for the community.”

Here ya go Rabbit, a centerfold for you to fantasize alone! She loves getting wet, being on a large woody.. OKAY, OKAY,, this isn’t even clever. Likes to be rubbed on? Love to be tied up? ? Wow, I am so sorry. Didn’t I slither away earlier? Why did I even crack that joke? And even more so, not delete it and still yet publish it?

Good Luck Rabbit! That is a beautiful piece of hardware that I have also admired many times. I hope WoodyBoaterville can come through.

    Yes good luck Rabbit!
If you do find one, see if they happen to have two?
I would like one also. It’s a cool looking piece!
It seems to be rare! I have never seen one in person just in pictures.
I wonder what year they came out with that ? What model was it on?
I’m sure someone would reproduce it ? but the cost would be expensive for just two pieces. Maybe there are more of us out there that would like one.
We could share the cost if 6 or 10 were made
I don’t think I would put it on Mom’s Mink because it’s not original.
It would be great on the next GarWood purchase I make.

Matt good luck with the new changes! Thanks for what you do for our hobby!
FYI still waiting on my red hats!

That is very cool indeed. I can understand the desire to find it.

in the interim, perhaps a Lalique Victoire on the bow would provide a modicum of satisfaction – and do the babe thing Matt is going on about.

About 10 years ago I came across that same boat with all the right hardware except anything with the name Garwood was taken out. From the step pads to the bow anchor..I was was told it was built after they sold out and couldn’t use the name

It would be great to find an original, but I think Shep is on the right path. There was a guy here in Maine who could make anything. I don’t remember exactly, but I think his name was Bud. I’m sure I could find it if you want it. Shep has my contact info if you guys decide to go down that path.

Shep make sure you have a cotter pin or lock nut on Mom’s Mink’s prop this year. You were lucky!

3D printing in metals is getting more common. I had a friend 3D scan and model a light bezel now impossible to find for a mid 50’s boat. Picture shows original, rough brass print and polished, ready for chrome.

I believe Bud Brackett in Maine had patterns made years ago and has casted some over the years.

    Business name is Maine Classics

Jumping in late. I’m pretty sure the anchors were on the 16-foot utilities. I’ve seen a few in photos. And Tony Mollica told me they were as well. And Tony is always right.

Friends, if you can’t help me find one I WILL want a Riva. And that would mean selling my house, that would not make my wife happy at all.

      Rabbit,
There is a gentleman out in California that is currently parting out a 16ft ensign and seems to have alot of parts. I have the 18’6″ utility so his parts wouldn’t fit mine. His name is Cody Gibson, and I was chatting with him on Facebook Messanger. He is also a member of the Gar Wood Boats Facebook page as well. Hope this helps.
