We have some very cool stuff planned with them and The Wooden Boat Experience Video series so you can visit the museum and participate from your sofa, in your PJ’s, the day ones, not the night time ones. Here is the official announcement. Stay tuned for some fun announcements. And oh.. DONATE MONEY.. BECOME A MEMBER.. Don’t just sit there. Wait, Sit there. Sorry..

Open-ish

Dear ABM Enthusiast,

Greetings to you from Clayton, New York.

We sincerely hope as you read this that you and your family are healthy and continue to be well.

The Antique Boat Museum is carrying on with preparations for the open season, under very different circumstances. COVID-19 has impacted the world and while we are on the banks of the mighty St. Lawrence River, which may seem like the ideal location, the devastation is felt here in the 1000 Islands as well.

My favorite barn on the planet

Our biggest news is our originally scheduled opening day of May 1st has been postponed to June 1, 2020. We recognize this new date may also have to be adjusted, we will give it a try and remain in compliance with CDC recommendations along with county, state, and federal declarations.

Although we are not set up to telecommute, team members are doing what they can to remain actively involved in the planning and programming to keep as much normalcy as possible.

This is just one room

The Museum is truly grateful for the continued membership support we are seeing and we cannot emphasize enough, our gratitude to those who are choosing to make a gift, renew a membership or just send an email of support to the Museum during such uncertain times.

This away

The following changes have been made to our 2020 Schedule:

MAY 1: Museum Open for Season – POSTPONED to June 1 (pending orders)
MAY 16: Volunteer Brunch – re-scheduled & re-formatted to June 24 more information coming
MAY 29-31: ABM & ACBS Symposium Weekend – POSTPONED to October 2-4, 2020

When some of the Michigan gang cruised the Thousand Islands in 2017, we toured the ABM and visited with some of their great staff. We also saw the cottage that is today’s header. That is REALLY island living!

Love WoodyBoater! Your instagram images are fantastic! I am editing the ABM virtual tour video series this morning and then heading out to the boat shed for some therapeutic boat work. I hope everyone enjoys the series and follows The Wooden Boat Experience on YouTube. Thanks for the support WoodyBoater!

That header photo! Wow, talk about building all the way to the edges of the available property!

Love the header picture. You have shown that on WB many times before. Reminds me of a cabin that used to be on the St. Mary’s River in the UP. A friend of my Dad owned it. He bought it in the 50s fixed it up, but could never get his wife to stay out there with him. We used to take the boat down and visit him. Sadly lightning struck it in the mid 70s and it burn down. He never rebuild it. The island is still there but not much left of it anymore. Islands like that would be a great place to quarantine. But the governor of Michigan says we can’t use boats to get to places like this. What the hell.

That header cottage is right next to Boldt Castle. The tour boat guides call it the “Mother in Law House”.
