First and Last Cobras together. History in the making

A huge thanks to fellow Woody Boater and world class photographer Steve Lapkin for reporting in from Coeur d’Alene Idaho at the ACBS International event. History is being made while we sit here and drool. Is this the first time in history that the Prototype Cobra and the last Cobra made are together? WOW! Here is Steve’s Report. aaaaand I get to make up the captions. Woohooo.

SUPER WAVE and a regular Wave

Okay thats a Shipload of Super Waves!

My last report was from the pre-event, final day of on-the-water time at the Pre-Event for the 2021 ACBS Annual Members’ Meeting at Priest Lake, Idaho. Thence, the scene and events have shifted south to Lake Coeur d’ Alene.

Prior to today, Friday, the activities continued to be ‘wet!’ A Wednesday “Poker Run’ on the Spokane River allowed the members to test their navigational skills and celebrate with hands-high thanks to those that helped make this venue a stunning success. Grateful applause goes to Priest Lake hosts, Brian and Kathy Fair and family!

And now, equal appreciation is extended to the host property and facilities of The Resort at Coeur d’Alene. The additional imagery provided here is from Yesterday, Thursday, as a history-making photo shoot was organized to showcase the prototype 18-foot Chris-Craft Cobra alongside the final production hull of the 21-foot Chris-Craft Cobra: both vessels are now under the custodianship of Brett Sargent of Washington State. Brett drove Proto and fellow-photographer-friend, Wes Yandt, was at the helm of Finito (the last.) As far as I know, these two stalwarts have never been side-by-side for a cameo. Indeed, they made a big splash!!

I also had the honor to be invited onboard Miss Sydney, owned by Curt and Marsha Erickson. Sitting in the cockpit alongside Curt, with camera at-the-ready, please enjoy several additional clicks of Curt at the wheel and it’s reflective dash and gauges…as well as the trailing wake at upwards of 50 miles per hour.
