Gar Wood Ashtray? Table Art? Coin Holder? Wood Not Gar Wood Miss America 7, I Have So May Questions.

Coming right at ya!

Today this popped up on ebay. A Wood Hydroplane Miss America 7 Table thing. I am voting ashtray. But thats always open to interpretation. Its metal so that makes sense, Die cast, and still has paint on it. Also says WOOD, not Gar Wood. I suppose there is some sort of name change at some point to Gar Wood? Since Wood would have been very difficult to Trademark. I suppose this may also explain why Chris Smith evolved into a Trademark Chris Craft.

WOOD HYDROPLANE

MISS AMERICA 7

See? Questions..

LOVE THIS

So is it table display? Or candy holder? Coin holder? Speaking of coins, I know one thing for double dog sure, is that the starting bid of 8 bucks wont last long. But what is the value of such an item? And lets say you win it for $500.00, then what? Does it go on your table? Or? See? More questions. The good news, I can make a story out of it! Woohooo! Another day, done!

Put your but right here? No indent for a cig though? Is this where the term Cigarette boat came from?

This art moves me!

YOU CAN CLICK HERE FOR THE EBAY LISTING. AS OF 6:41 AM IT’s At $8.00

“Wood Hydraulic” would be in reference to the lift division of (Gar)Wood Industries. My guess is that this is a promo item and most likely an ash tray.

What material is it? I own a nonferrous foundry in Oregon and would love to reproduce it if it isn’t copyrighted. I know new ones wouldn’t be the old ones, but the more wooden boat stuff we put into the world the longer it will all last. 🙂

I have seen Speedboat Outlaw’s and my best guess is that could be a cigarette box, which was popular back in the day for holding non filtered cigs.

I would vote for a promo cigarette holder. There was a similar one made that resembles a Chris Craft upswept triple.
