1956 Feather Craft Rocket Pure Gold, Okay Anodized Gold Aluminum.

Those lines!
There is something very special about these little Feather Crafts. They are one of those designs that belong on a wall in a gallery. And of all of them, except of course the 1948 Feathercraft / Paragon Meteor which is INSANE, anyway I got a little lost there. The Rocket is about as close as you can get to hopping in a little sports car and goinf to the moon.

The 1956 Catalog. Thanks to the incredibly well done website on Feather Craft. WOW, link at the bottom of the story. WOW

These are Aluminum. So I am not clear as to how one would restore this. BUT, it would be a tad crazy to do. Sulfuric acid and electricity. WHY WHY WHY did I not pay attention in Chemistry class? Oh, right, cause I wanted to be a designer. My dad told me I needed to take Chemistry because I would understand the properties of paint. WTF, I got a 4! yes a 4 out of 100 on my first test. And the teacher said it was because I put my name on the paper. Now if he had said something about anodized aluminum and Feather Crafts…mmmm, maybe I would have gotten a 10. out of 100 pts

Dang that just brought up some bad memories. BUT the lines on these is PERFECT! This could be the archetype of all feather crafts? So very very simple

The logo? Rocket Fish? Honestly, it’s so wonky its cool. But you can see the gold issue here. It would drive me nuts. And it’s not a cool patina thing. BUT as a project? mmmmmm… could be an adventure for sure. Maybe call it OLD GOLDY? And make up a story.
HERE IS THE LINK FARM! HAPPY PLOWING!
YOU CAN LOOK AT THE FACEBOOK MARKET PLACE AD FOR THE ROCKET HERE
AND YOU CAN SEE THE STORY ON THE METIOR HERE. WOW

AND AND AND, AND. There is a discussion about EVERBRITE coatings on the Feather Craft site in their forum. HERE IS THE LINK TO EVERBRITE. Maybe an easier fix than redoing it?

Cool boat!!!
I think the best deal on the market right now is the Skampy Rocket in Dora.
Presented here by Vannah Knight!
Im speechless
My Feathercraft Vagabond is slowly getting there. Going to mix in some mahogany wood details. Learning polishing techniques, going to learn solid rivets, etc..
The advertising was cool.
Great ad! Unfortunately the text isn’t clear enough to read. Curious minds want to know what they had to say about THAT picture!
It was on my home laptop so I will check tonight if I can get a better image of it. It says, “Aluminum boats. First Choice To Last”. I’m not sure why, but it made me want to go out and buy a Feathercraft boat.
This should be better. from a 1967 catalog?
Love Feathercraft!. Hopefully Chad gets this little gem out this summer.
The cool thing about feather crafts is that they always travel in packs. You rarely ever see just one. They are very cool little boats.
Cool little boat. It would have to be a true Feathercraft lover to buy that one. I hope someone does.
I thought I would add dual motors to the contribute to the theme of Feather Craft; love the lines of the Gold Feather Craft Rocket; tempting and light to tow; put on a 40 hp and smile all day long ;
you are right on about the chemistry teacher….I sucked at Math and Physics…now I am a hands on learned semi expert. If the teacher has just started out with
“Suppose you wanted to cut a 2 x 4 such that….. I would have raised my head from the desk….John in VA
On a Summer day driving by the lake I spotted a small aluminum boat kids in sandy play area next to the water were playing in… As an old boat picker this needed checking out…. I knocked on the door and inquired about if it might be for sale. The lady was amazed that I might be interested in their little boat and gave me permission to take a look… Turned out it was a rare 10′ barrel back racing model.. And of of course I bought to inexpensive to mention here. Later sold to a friend and was featured in one of my friends Peter Huns books… Yes, I’m a Mahogany Speedboat guy…still am…
i found this on marketplace, pulled from a fallen down barn, for $300. i thought it would be a quick and easy project, wrong. aluminum is not as easy as mahogany. i’m putting a full mahogany transom dash and deck on it. i was planning on doing a polish on the hull sides but looks like i will just paint it. trying to sand hundreds of scratches out of aluminum is getting to be to much.
