A Different Type Of Reporting In From Gull Lake Late-ish

Reporter Dave Bortner
Long time fellow Woody Boater Dave Bortner from Freedom Boat Service reports in in a wonderfully produced short video from the past Gull Lake Show at Bar Harbor Supper Club. You may recall this was home to the big Woods & Water event several years back, and is the home base to some big guns in the culture.

Boats, glorious boats.

John Allen heads through the mist.
This is a different type of report, and uses video to add a more full style report. Should we do more of these? Maybe this should be a show? A more PBS style show than the usual hype reality crap with fake drama.

We do learn about Daves Dad though… The root of the “Shorts” thing?
Nice job Dave and the entire Gull Lake crew! Here is the report! Worth a watch!
👍👍👍
Excellent!
Nice job Dave. If I knew, we would have given you a mic in Port Huron. It was great that you joined us. The Gull Lake show looked as fabulous as always. Congratulations!
Dave nailed it! Really gets to the essence of wooden boat ownership. I would like to see more videos like this. THANKS!
Great video Dave!
Very Good! Well done.
Perfect way to start the day!
That was really great to see. Having just completed our Knysna Boatshow on Saturday, a video like that will be our target for next year. With much fewer boats, though!
Brilliant, more of that stuff please; makes overseas Boatshow photos come alive, with fewer spelling mistakes too!
Great job Dave!
Perfect ! Hopefully the first of many clips to come from our group.
Great video….Now to go get batteries, etc & prepare for a late season hurricane.
Great clip!! And my wife agrees!
Well done my friend, very professional, no studdering, or those annoying “UGHs”. This will be hard to beat or even match for future show reporting…
p.s. how did Dave get an ALL GIRL youth judging crew? Must be the shorts, eh?
That was as nice as it gets,Dave did a great job, the youth judging is always a treat. The best part of the show was when they all pull in and you can hear em but too much fog to see. This show is a must if you never been, great location for all, but I did see the fiberglass pulling out, which shows it is open to all, great way to start a monday,,Bill
Great job Dave.
That was pretty awesome!
Always a great event at a an incredible location! Dave and his team do a fabulous job of putting this all together!
Congrats Dave, beautifully shot & edited!
(toots horn…) The best boat show video I’ve seen since we (Caroline Di Diego & Esse Group) filmed the Tahoe Concours back in 1990! Search out an old VHS (what?) copy of “Doing Things The Old Way” narrated by wooden boat fan Peter Graves.
Wow, wow, WOW! I completely agree with the previous 19 comments and just want to add the professionalism that Dave brings to
every boat show or any other venue in our hobby is second to none. Great job, my friend!
Well done! Enjoyed that thoroughly!
A great honor to have been a longtime friend of Mr. Bortner! If only you had been able to have CISCO at your side. Bravo!!
“For Woody Boater.com, Im Dave Bortner.”
Great video Dave and a really accurate description of , as you say. the viseral feeling of owning these boats.
Thanks!
That was awesome! Who could say no to more videos or more Dave?
Nice job Dave. The video is a nice touch.
Can’t wait for next year which features “Launches”.
Great Job Dave! You hit on every aspect of woody boating. I watched it twice.
Very professional! Great job and looking forward to next year Lee!
Bravo!
Love it!
