A New Day, Okay, The Next Day, Of Many More Days To Come.
Yesterday around 4 PM the new WoodyBoater went live, and in no time 35 comments.
WOW, it’s wonderful to know you all are still here. I know Greg needed some shock therapy to stay alive. It’s okay Greg, it was just a long nightmare, Plug away. And Art is still trying to figure out how to comment. And Paul Harrison just commented an emoji? OH GOD! Is he speechless? Or waiting for a spew? We will find out soon in Lake Dora.
This may sound strange, but I missed all of you.
Even Dim, I didn’t realize this emotion would take over. Anyway, today we are just gonna milk the launch a little more. And some more info on the new site.
The headers will be a little more evergreen.
As in not changed daily. But will change, with photos and video as needed. And not cary over to the story page, and as you can tell, each image is header size. Oh ya, so it’s not less headers but more. Photography has been a key ingredient for us here. Just wait for some Dane, Lapkin, Kent O, and Kays gold. The Archives is all 6,000 stories and 50,000 images.
Some issues we know about.
On many stories the images are all different sizes, and I need to manually go through them and fix them. So that will take some time, and some have double images, that also will be repaired on may of them.
Ad banners are on the home page only.
On subsequent pages, we will have space for other info, but I do like the clean feeling. I will add, that to many it may be a bit odd of a feel, but over a week or so you get used to it, and going back seems a bit crazy busy. So thats being worked out. Like a new barn, it fills up. Nature deplores a vacuum.
So enjoy, we are here for you and now for the next generation of you, even though they don’t give a ship.. But they will. For them kids, we also took great care to make it all work on your phone and ipad. Yup, it was like designing three different sites in one. Here the intro video again in case you missed it. Tomorrow, behind the scenes of how it was produced. Milk will be served.
Looking good. We will get acclimated over time. Thanks for the repairs before we ran her into the deep.
7am and no Greg…the shock of NEW must have been too much.
New look is GREAT!!
Do we need a welfare check on Greg?
Since we are all new and refreshed, I thought it would be a good time for a shameless plug. The Michigan gang is getting ready for two big parties this year. Algonac on June 24th and Port Huron on September 9th. Mark your WoodyBoater calendars!
Thank god! Phew. That was touch and go. By the way check out the about page, we have changed some folks around, and new HQ’s . Including Greg as the Michigan Reporter.
Matt, in true WoodyBoater fashion you spelled my name wrong!
Damit!
I want a picture or a red a next to my name also.
Love the video, especially Chris Smith and Gar Wood talking to us like old friends!
Hanging in here….John in Va
WOW, I figured out how to watch the vid! Amazing! Long deads and air heads…great stuff!
John, blown away in ole VA.
Looking great!!!!!
Tried to comment yesterday, but even the new WB won’t take a picture straight off the I-phone so it went to Davey Jones Locker.
Good to have you back!
Fixed. Troy, this is a test photo upload from iPhone.
Troy, the inability to upload a photo directly from iPhone can be traced back to Apple’s proprietary HEIC format. On your photo library, you likely have HEIC photos enabled. This is the technology that brings you Live Photos as well as much higher quality/lossless compression, etc. It is a great format, but the other web-based technologies have had to catch up. After your comment, I changed some things around and added new functionality to allow for HEIC photo format as well as a few others, PDFs, doc, mp4, mov, etc. Post away.
nice, sending test photo

Mike, the easiest way is to visit http://gravatar.com. Take a few seconds to set up your account then follow the steps to create your avatar…aka “gravatar. The advantage of doing this on gravatar is that your new profile image will be associated with your name and username, and on many places on the web, your visual identifier will follow you.
I haven’t been able to upload a pic in a couple years. So am trying here. I always assumed it was “just me.”
Yay!
The video was fantastic! Congratulations on the new website.
Wow! Wonderful, Matt
Great stuff, love the video.
Test….
WOW, even Mr. B has a new look!!!!!
Ya, along with a link to Chewy dot com. I bet that is a good sponsor.
Fantastic! …and worth the wait. Now I can get my day started again with inspiration as I am elbows deep in projects as i am home for a few weeks! 🙂
Matt – The wait was worth it. Don’t know if the coffee withdrawal or the Woody Boater withdrawal was more difficult. Video was really special.
Looks great. Works great.
Well Done
“roaming?”………’reporting in’ from “Tahoe/Olympic Valley”; buried/unburying the (Chevy) Tahoe…note the driver’s side rear view mirror. Forecast: 2-more-feet (minimum) expected in the next 24 hrs. MATT – THANK YOU for including me in your write-up today 🙂 Anyone care to stop by with a shovel? SL
i spent the weekend at some boneyard boatyards
witb the salty characters telling each other our
boat stories and adventures on the water.
Love the new site and the video was awesome. It must have taken some really high tech software to create the talking heads. Will they be a regular feature in the new WoodyBoater?
This is a test, this is a test of the emergency picture posting
My test pic
Love the video, like watching Forest Gump with JFK. Always wondered how they did that.
Wow just Wow !!!
Well done love the talking heads, be it a bit creepy .
Wow, congratulations on getting it up…Its a woodyfull day. See you in Tavares.
It’s beautiful; you did good. Test picture…..
Giddyap, Matt.
WOW!!! What a website. No wonder it took you 2 days to get it up. It has taken me all day to navigate it I will try a picture tomorrow. I’m one of these old guys who knows more about magnitos than megabytes.
Just found out you are back, after losing power for 24 hours. Just glad you are back!
Well done sir. Thanks !
Very cool! I love it all. One thing I do miss are the Previous and Next Article buttons at the bottom.
I do really love the clean look. But won’t advertisers want to show up on every page?
