A Picture Perfect Day

Perfect sky, 80 and slight breeze

I spent yesterday working on Sweet Pea, the barn, between office calls. And even though today has no real theme, sometimes a day of small different things can just be a perfect day. I suppose like a day of appetizers with no real huge meal. But you are full and happy. A real sausage day, not made up of old snap shots.

Super high tide and flat water is always good for some photos

Charlie Biddlecomb from Marine Installations came by and installed “Rocky” our brand new Navigation screen.

10 knots at 2,200 RPM.. Thats top speed. Normal speed is 8 knots at 1,500 rpm. Her depth transducer needs to be installed so I can get better depth readings. The old one is so old it wont talk to this one even with an adapter.

Also installed a USB port on my new phone plate. I also will use the Navtronics app as back up. All owned by Garmin.

We had a little time for a trial run. LOVE IT

Meet “The Boobs” They look great, and at this age, don’t work, but I like looking at them, and they like looking back.

And about 5pm, my ebay compass showed up. After a quick polish, she found her new forever home. All she has to do is sit there and look pretty.

Something old, something blue, and copper pipe. Gotta have copper pipe as a wire hider.

Does it work? Probably not. It will be fun to try and see though

Her helm is starting to look the trawler part. This winter Charlie is going to replace the fuses and rats nest of wires with a proper breaker panel, and her white panel will get the varnished wood treatment.

Mirror mirror on the water, who is the fairest of them all?

That is a trawler transformation! I saw in WoodenBoat back issue an ad for sistership asking 139K in 2013 or so. Some of your best work on one of your best boats!
Go Boating….I on the other hand have to Go for a RootCanal….not the canal I wished to traverse.

Oh well, like said, a pretty day on ole Va.

I see what you did with that name – Rocky 🙂 That gleaming brass compass looks perfect there.

Fabulous craft! I see that your spotlite is mounted on the roof with a handle on the ceiling (not nautical terms) to control it. I had this setup on my old Skiff and I loved it. My newer Skiff has the spotlite mounted on the deck with a toggle controller on the dash and I hate it. I spend most nights looking at the sky, the lake, and everything other than the buoy I’m trying to find.

Mr Rothert and I are in the same boat… “Sweet Pea” is looking better each time you feature her! I gotta mention though: The V-berth looks pretty uncomfortable… I’ll assume the mattresses are being upgraded. Either that, or the crew has really pissed you off! Great boat!
