Afternoon Delight – WoodyBoater Style

Like working on a house
Yesterday after a bunch on calls, some good, some frustrating, the Boatress suggested I go to the railway and refocus on life. I know this may sound strange, but working on the boats is as much therapy as going out on them. So..I did both. One of the perks of having more than one.

The ride to the Railway was a good start -4PM
They are like potato chips. mmmmmm, anyway, I had a couple hours to get the door back on and start the finishing part. There is no instant gratification with old boats, it’s all a process, a marathon of sorts. Once you see that, it becomes life changing. Getting on coat of varnish on. Letting stuff sit until you can focus. NO DEADLINES!

Not perfect. But then again, neither am I. But strong under there.
I have lived, and still do in a deadline driven world. Hard ones and soft ones, but ALWAYS a deadline. So having stuff to do that is productive without a deadline is strange yet very relaxing. And yesterday, I got the door back on. Dang! World I was able to accomplish one thing yesterday. Today, paint during lunch.. okay, maybe primer, oh and some sanding. UGH. AHHHHHH!

A simple door to happiness and life!
Side note, this group was from near my home in Arlington, and little fact, they also wrote of big hits, Like Take Me Home, Country Roads.

Sandi and her sisters would innocently sing this song as teens having no idea of it’s significance. Their mother was not real impressed.
Keep up the good work with Sweet Pea! Some days I miss American Beauty.
Bethany and I chilled out at 4am sitting in a field to watch the meteor shower…saw one good one and 3 blips…but scores of satellites (web says there are 14K of them up there now). Amazing! Time well spent…need to Go Boating. John in Va
your reflection in the last photo was funny. your reflection looks like you’re peeking over the console inside Sweet Pea. Was that intentional?
After a day of mental exercise work, I too enjoy losing myself in some hands-on manual project where you physically see your progress.
I too bought the Starland Vocal Band album when I was in 5th grade not knowing what the song was about but liked the tune. My Mom was not happy and took the album for some unknown reason. So a couple years later I bought AC/DC Back In Black.
HA, didnt notice that
It’s kinda different here, I rarely have hard deadlines anymore, but there always seems to be a boatload of “stuff” to do. I spent this morning prepping food for a get together tonight with our kids and grand kids at our place. Next is mow the lawn and work in the woods a bit. Then lunch with our 6 year old grand daughter, who we are taking care of all day today. Maybe, a can sneak in a little nap. Then, more food prep, and all the kids arrive at 5-5:30 for dinner. See, no deadlines, just stuff to do. Tomorrow will be a little different, but still packed. Im not complaining. It’s all really fun, but a boat ride does sound VERY good! Sweet Pea looks a lot better than the last time we saw her! I still sing that song every once in a while, just to get a reaction from my wife! Have a great day all!
I finally made some significant progress on the boathouse yesterday! Second floor is now decked and waiting for walls to go up!
Dang, snd picks. We all love a cool boathouse.
