Art Between Zoom Calls
I know many of you wonder how I have the time to do this everyday. I do to, but time is a funny thing. You can always fit in stuff that you really want to do. You just need to be flexible and snack at things. For example, I am on a 5 Day TV Shoot right now. There is always some down time between set ups. And since we are all on Zoom these days, I can do that from the new office at HQ.
So, when there is a 30 minute break, instead of eating at the craft services table on a set. I grab a brush and run out and do a chore. Some small that can be done in 30, some I just do a chunk. Then another and so on. Such is the case in lettering the Railway. Crazy, but it sure helps get some walking and standing in while most of the day is sitting in front of a computer.
I suppose this is a form of art in some sort of way. A release. Heck the entire Railway is just a painting. But that’s another story. Oh, yes it is. Stay tuned.
Nice work! Glad to see the leaning power pole is still there. Some things are just meant to stay the same, like classic boats!
So apparently you have some painting talent. Nice. That has to be tough though to get out there, take out the painting supplies, do some work, clean off the brushed and/or rollers, put everything away, get the paint off yourself and get back in front of the cameras in 30 minutes. Gonna call you The Flash.
Matt, the marina is coming together nicely. Thanks for saving and upgrading this gem. Perfect type on the signs. But where is the pup?
Matt, I really like you Johnson… lettering. Very cool! Will ass to the visual cues from the water and guide boaters for years to come. Looks like the plan is really coming together.
It needs the actual “Sea Horse” logo. The late 40’s one.
I had one like that. This seemed more like the kinda one that would have been painted on the side. Simple and blunt with the local dealer in it. I did about 6 different posters in that spot. This is the one that popped. This was 7AM this morning. It popps
Looking great! Unfortunately, for me projects always seem to snowball & take far longer than planned. So doing things in bits between commitments, rarely works out well for me.
Is it just me or is lapkin praying with love quite often
Thats a Big Johnson (sign). Really looks good. Now on to an Evinrude sign. That could be a good story on how to do this. Like the big Chris Craft sign you did a while back.
We as of 1230. Lunch break lettering
Looks fantastic Matt. How are you getting the type on the wall before painting it? Surely not freehand?!?!
Maybe he does it at night with a tv projector
I thought the lettering in the first pic looked best where you could see the red siding paint through the white Johnson letters. Makes it look like it has been there for 50 years.
You’re really living the dream with the Railway.
