Screen grab of Baird Wealth Management Commercial

Thanks to fellow Woody Boater  Michael, for making us aware of this commercial. The good folks at Baird Wealth Management have done a beautiful commercial  for..well.. Baird Wealth Management. The film is beautiful and the copy nice.  The intent of course is to say, go do what you want to do, it’s your life, and our company is owned by us, so we can do what we feel is right. You want to go restore a boat in the barn, have at it.

Nice barn!

Nice barn!

We here at Woody boater could no agree more.   Here is a retired guy, let’s call him George, in his mid to late 60’s, he lives on the water. So he has that. He decides he wants to go boating. He could have gone out and purchased a new plastic boat for lets say $75K.. He goes out on it a bunch of times.. And then is bored, starts chasing Tammy the waitress down at the Lickety Split Market down the way. The trusting wife of our George  finds out and BAM, George is in a divorce situation, Tammy has taken George for a small fortune before wife finds out.. All because he was bored with his new plastic boat.

Ok, thats not Tammy.. Thats Cortney, she is Georges Granddaughter.

Ok, thats not Tammy.. Thats Cortney, she is Georges Granddaughter. In the print add according to Micheal, the boat name is “Skip To M Lou”

NOW, if Baird Wealth Management advised him right, and they clearly did. they said George get a woody boat, something that will consume hours of your time. Go into the barn ..a lot, stay away from the Likety Split Market, and spend time on the phone with the good folks at Classic Boat Connection, go to the local ACBS show, and instead of looking for naked girly websites online, just visit Woody Boater. See… See George, that’s wealth Management. Ya still have your wife, who will of course complain that you smell of varnish and old gas… But George, that beats her complaining about smelling like Tammy!

Here is the commercial.

As Paul Harvey would say, now the rest of the story. So the girl in the header is named Tammy. Everyone knew she would never last at the store. You see Uncle Mike gave her the job at the Lickety Split, until a advertising guy named Matt discovered her there. Now she is a successful model. George now reads Woody Boater, (thanks to the smart financial people at Baird)sees today’s header says ” I remember Tammy” George finds Tammy in NYC. Mrs George ( Irene ) finds out. Irene is now a Woody Boater, Tammy will be in the next Sports illustrated swimsuit issue and George now has to work at the Lickety Split and Baid manages Irene’ money.

I think someone needs to spend some quality time with Mrs. George (Irene?). After all, money isn’t everything…. She probably will get the boat too!

It’s an old vintage photo of a big commuter in Florida. Shot probably in the 30’s or 40’s.

Can someone “point out” what model of boat it is with that clever fold down windscreen in the header above.

Let’s get to the point(s), BrianT….that is a 194119’CC Barrelback. The back is very smooth and curvy but the front, as you can see, is quite pointy.

They could have at least used appropriate plans, he’s taking measurements off a skiff plan. He probably “eff’d” up the resto so bad that he had to get a restoration shop to straighten the whole mess out. If Tammy or Mrs. George didn’t get all his money, the restoration shop will finish it off. varnishing over raw wood, no stain? lol.

I think it is a resto. You can see old finish on the top at one point. And maybe that’s a sealer he’s applying rather than varnish. Anyway nice boat, nice ad. Just goes to show how popular Woody Boating is becoming. Now if Baird really wanted to show how they manage your wealth it should have ended with George’s next project…..a Woody cruiser!
