Buttercup Is Dead. Long Live The WoodyBoater Photo Boat!

She has been turned into a storage shed.
The Boatress has released me from my pain, of painting the 1958 Cavalier yellow and calling her Buttercup. I still love the boat and was about to start the winter project. But now her name and color has changed. She will now be the official Photo Boat for traveling.

Blue with lettering
She is perfect for that, small, fast and no need to soak her up.
Her new color is going to be Dark Blue,?????? White trim and Vermilion stain varnish decks and transom.

Black?

Original concept
And a red plaid interior. Her engine hatch will get a rubber pad so I can stand up on it for high angle shots.

No lettering

Grey?

White?
Now I just need a true Woody Boater name. The top ideas are.
Woodyphoter not to be confused with Woody Floater which we are called by DIM’s

So today lets have a naming party, or just vote for your favorite.
Go more modern.

I like dark blue with white lettering or white with blue lettering. Name her Miss Shutter, Miss Long Lense or something like that and have Troy do a graphic for the transom!
Miss Spelt is hard to beat, but how about ‘Box Camera’.
Box = Wood, get it?

Miss Spelt
How could there be any other?!?!
How about ‘Shoot RAW’? Or ‘F Stop’? I do like ‘Woodyphoter’ and Greg’s ‘Miss Shutter’ as well.
Ms Spelt
The blue gets my vote
And all this time I thought you had moved to Maine and bought a KIA.

I’d sell the Cav, buy a triple with modern power. The aft cockpit would be most excellent for getting great photo shots. Paint her up pretty and name her Triple Take.

Blue looks great
Miss Shuttercup
Glad the Boatress set the pastel yellow idea adrift. Dark blue & white look great with varnish. I prefer the 1st idea, with the blue being dominant. And John in VA is right – Tipe O os a nice try, but not your kind of mistake. Miss Take? Or a name that plays on misspelling.

Exciting – – I Shutter to think how this might Develop – –

Don’t move
I like the very first version – blue and white with varnished top decks and transom. The side lettering is good, but I would add a big F/8 (F8, F-8, ??) toward the bow on each side, a nod to both the traditional boat racing numbers and also to the old photographers’ saying “F/8 and be there.”
Maybe the name on the transom should be F8 as well. and pronounce it “Fate” in conversation.
I like the black or yellow options. How about : pixel-late or jpeg II?
Miss Haperture
Lets all take a moment and observe Veterans Day. Many of them were woody boaters also. From the fearless men who served on the wooden ships in the war of 1812. To the brave men in WWII who rode Chris-Craft landing craft to the beaches of Normandy. Also the brave sailers who served on PT boats in the Pacific. They gave a lot so we can enjoy the pleasure of boating free. “If you can read this thank a Teacher, if you can read this in English thank a Veteran.”
TIPE-O or Ms. Spelt When someone asks you about the name you will know they aren’t drinking the Kool-Aid

Cool idea. I would go with the color to match your tow vehicle, isn’t it black or dark blue?
I also agree with Jim Staib’s comment of the name TIPE – O, AS as a conversation starter.
Maybe check into adding mini stabilizers to get great shots at high speed and/or rough water.
Maybe even adding a “Sissy Bar” set up, to be able to stand on the engine box and be able to lean against it to steady yourself, envision to old wing walkers on biplanes.
Oh, this could be THE photo boats of ALL photo boats.
Plus that the boat is light and small, it is easy to tow, and maneuver anywhere while traveling, docking or tight turns for that great MATT Photo.

Matt, I like the Blue with White lettering. Matches the website header, your tow vehicle etc. First vote is for Mis Spelt or how about Immage or Enspiration.
I vote for the black and maybe a name like “Golden Hour”
I would go for Miss Speltz – It’s a play on the ongoing joke of Matt’s spellchecker gaffes and would honor someone who is largely responsible for lighting up the wooden boat hobby and awareness years ago – the late Bob Speltz, author of the “Real Runabouts” series of books. As for the color – I like the white with blue lettering the best – clean and you already have a blue-hulled boat…
You should really have a pontoon for that.
LOL
anything but plaid
FOTOMAT Its from the same era as the boat, Is already spelled wrong and you could use the old colors.
If you’re gonna go that route, add a T, and make it FotoMatt.
Picture-Perfect, or any misspelling of your choise.
“Light Leak” should be the name
