Cool Featercraft, Cool Film, Cool Marathon, And Even Cooler Way To Sell A Boat.

,

dream 1So in my usual cruising for coolness on ebay, I came across a cool feathercraft. Now, we all know these are around, and yes this one is a tad rarer than other. But it will need some TLC.. But the seller is a future advertising executive for sure, chose to sell the dream. We applaud that here at Woody Boater since in fact that’s really all these boats are. Dreams, memories, history…it’s all a state of mind. Here is what the seller has to say ” My best guess is a 1948 Runabout. I looked a long time to find one to build a replica of the 1949 Albany to New York Marathon winner. It includes a Champion 7 1/2 of the same vintage. It could be a fun project for a collector. ” Pure genus, its not just a painted in need of restoration feathercraft… it’s a race boat ..kinda! Even has a film to help the dream along.. The film is chocked full of very cool graphics by the way, and a way to spruce up any small outboard .. IN COLOR!  If you want to see the sale on ebay, click here. The film.. right here.. Happy feathercraft dreaming.

OH… and happy header day! Those of you that know what that means.. enjoy, those of you new to Woody Boater.. just click on stories… it’ll make sense. Kinda.

What a great story and film. That is what racing is all about. The average Joe (or Jane) could afford to field a boat, and be competitive with every boat in their class. With a good boat, a little luck and some really big kahunas, a win could be had. The corporate sponsorship, high tech world has really messed up this kind of thing.

      Step 1) Kill all lawyers.
      Step 2) Organize race.

The problem is making sure step 1 is absolutely positively 100% complete, or someone will do something stupid and hurt themselves or others and then they will sue you for sponsoring.

m-fine – you forgot step #1-B: Throw all of the idiots in our society who will not take any personal responsibility for their own actions into prison.

Step #1-A would basically take care of itself if there was not the massive cesspool of idiots, crybabies, and get-rich-schemers who crawl into the law offices on a daily basis.

I fully agree with Greg L above.

Wow. They just do not make great films like this anymore. Always a hit to have patriotic music at the end.

“… slowing down for that tug boat wake… WATCH OUT !! “(LOL)

Cracks me up that the winning boat in class F could have done the entire race AND returned back to the start in the same time that the winning class A boat did the race itself – 6 hours and 15 minutes of getting beat to hell in that little Feathercraft.

The driver was laughing it up though so it must have been loads of fun.

Really great film…I too would save it…if I had a clue as to HOW???

and M-fine is right on about the first step in having such and event today….but put insurance companies in that lineup too.

First header I saw said “countdown to Lake Dora 12 days.” I was ecstatic. Thought I’d passed out and slept all through winter. But then I read it was all a ruse. So now it’s back to staring out the window and watching the rain bring down the leaves. (Heavy sigh.)

Guess that is one advantage of being self-employed, the will do anything with you.

THANKS for the great day of headers!

Gotta love that camera biplane flying along at 40MPH or less. My Skylane would fall out of the air if I tried to do that.
