Fresh Paint On Zip. Embrace The Life She So Well Lived.

, ,

Zips ready to flip

Its one thing to strip all her paint off, and another to lay on some nice flat primer. But oooffffff. Nothing brings out a life well spent than a fresh coat of paint. And Semi gloss to boot. Boat! There is a certain desire to repair it all, and yet, I know this is the way her life is, and embracing her past is the real tribute to her. After all, you can always go find a perfect one someplace. But why?

That metal was stripped down to metal.

I had to change from Safety Red to Regal red to match better, and it kinda helped calm her down. The white is the same white as the Outboard will be.

Being careful to not over do it. The rattle can resto is starting to take some bashed up shape

The way it left the factory…… if it had been dropped off the truck on the beltway, then dragged for a couple miles. PERFECT!

The Engine Runs. For now. She needs a complete rebuild. But at least runs, and well.. I am sure people will say this and that about that. But lets be honest. We aint going fishing in the little beast anytime soon. And yes, She has a little Valdez thing going on.

Wow. And I always thought Howe Marine was the “Final Fling before Boot Hill”.
Thank heavens were “neck and neck” in that department………
Only difference is that we’re a certified Clean Marina and have to be very careful about any Exxon Valdez’s hitting a reef around the joint! 🤣

Perfect! Just perfect! It needs to be able to tell it’s story! Fixing every ding and dent would have made it just another old boat. Nicely done!

I never thought I would see an aluminum boat restoration story on WB. Bu it’s cool. A Richline with a great story.! Enjoy it. I would hang that Merc. on the wall and get a late 50s 35 Evinrude or Johnson for her. This will no doubt start some discussion.
