Gone Fishin With The Flick Of A Switch
Well, well, over 50 comments yesterday and I just want to crawl in a corner. I HATE stories like yesterday, all it does is bring up bad thoughts, and looks at life through a negative lenses. Something I never do. We are asked all the time how do we do this? The answer is simple, positive energy, we are all galss half full people. Who else would buy a truck full of wood and call it a boat, spend a fortune restoring it, and trust it to float. We are positive folks, and that is the reason we do this. Its not about slithering around looking for idiots trying to profit off this. So today as a rest. Lets talk fishing. No not Phishing, witch is sleazy folks on line trying to hook you . I am talking just boring fishing. Of course you need a fishing license. UGH. Everything has rules and negatives. How about just fishing stuff. Old reels, buckets, baskets. Or what about this cool light on ebay. There, just as simple ebay story. BTW, as a ebay Partner we have the right to promote this product and image. UGH. I am going to crawl back into bed today.

I also find fishing boring, but display some of the family fishing gear at the cottage. I just loved to eat the perch, walleye and blue gill that my Dad, Uncle and Grandpa would fry up after a fishing trip.
The boatress this year said she wanted to go fishing, I said lets go in WECATCHEM.. I swear this is true, she said, FOR FISHING? I still laugh.. Why not go classic fishing, old poles, just go out with a cool collection of stuff and just travel back in time. No day glow fishing stuff.
My kids were amazed and dumbfounded when 1-I took them out fishing on Panther, 2- We had no GPS, fishfinder or depthfinder, 3-No compass, 3-We still caught fish.
I enjoy fishing but always find a reason to not go. It just takes sooo much time. My dad taught me to fish so not going makes me feel a bit guilty. I know he would understand. We still have many things of his on display and I have most of his gear still in the basement. Some things are ordinary and others are cherished. A custom made pole for him that was signed and dated. An old metal rod that I fished with in the small creek near our house and many other items. Many of which are paintings by my wife. We, 90% her, created this table out of an old one. There’s more to it than what the picture shows but the detail is amazing. The grained top was just by chance when the poly soaked into the old cracked finish.
Originally from the Ocean City, Md area, I fished for marlin, tuna, wahoo, etc. most of my life. Now I live on a landlocked lake in SC and I just don’t fish anymore. The thrill is gone. The fish they catch here are the size we used to use for bait. So these days, I do my fishing at the supermarket. It’s a sure thing and I’m saving the lives of countless worms.
I like to do my fishing at a sushi bar. “I’ll take one of those, four of those, a couple those guys and any rolls that have bacon in them.”
I long for days gone by when I could “steal” some bikini clad babe with a fishing pole and share it with all my Woody Boater friends.
So do the rest of us!
The 25′ Sportsman was made for hunting and fishing. Mine had a live well and rod locker. They got re-purposed in to a bar and cooler. The new owner deleted the rod locker. A crime I’m sure.
My grandfather was a fisherman’s fisherman. My roll cast, perfected under his guidance, perfect for dry fries on streams with low hanging trees.
Oddly he preferred sunfish and small bass, he’d catch a bucket at a time and turn it into dinner for a small crowd.
My wife is from Maine where the fishing stopped in September and where they consider 3 people finishing the same bank a crowd. (No lie they really do and I can point you to the sportswriter who said as much back in May when the season in Marine started)
As my mother pointed out when I acquired a 65′ Hatteras motor yacht, my grandfather would have been disappoint that it wasn’t a Sportfisher. I took her to the port engine room pointed to 2 ready rigged saltwater rods telling her they where ready should grandpa happen to show up.
I never drop a line with out hearing his voice, “now don’t just plop your lure in the water present it.”
