ICREDIBLE VIDEO! What a treasure that is!
Half the folks were stone drunk the other half green seasick. How about the shot from dead in front of the steamer…emphasis on DEAD!!!
The Elco and other (maybe a ACF) cruisers are super….the runabouts amazing…that footage must be very rare indeed. The guy never did figure out he needed to slow pan, but the boat he was on was haul A as he was right with the race boats
Best period vid I have ever seen.
Many thanks, john
Those were the days when boating while intoxicated was the only way to go.
I think John is right about the Elco, the other cruiser to me looks like Richardson, which would make sense seeming they were built close by in Tonawanda. Great vid!
Boating while Intoxicated. I guess you could get away with it when there were alot less boats. I enjoy a drink or two on the water when at anchor in the lee side of the right piece of land. Those guys ruled the water. I just hope that they were not too load for too long. That could really ruin my happy hour out on the water or the dock. Thanks for the vid.
Great video! I've never seen another period film with so many boats. WOW!.
anonymous John Rothert again:
Nemo: you mean the step deck cruiser being a Richardson? You are likely right on there…forgot the Buffalo connection…
Those boats were rolling all over the place if the camera man was at all sober…
How about all the smoking going on in the race boat cockpit??? like Matt always says: "…I smell gas"…lucky those fools didn't blow up or go over the falls….
John,
I watched the vid again and I'm guessing the step deck cruiser could be a Stephens? I mitakenly ID'd the Elco Cruisette as a Richardson, it looked like it had a three-pane windshield the first time.
