Happy Spray Day!

The best is when it’s so calm & quiet, that you can hear the spray off your ski falling back into the water behind you. Unfortunately haven’t had one of those days for quite awhile.

Great pics indeed! About halfway through them I started wondering, then started chuckling, and then I thought ‘hey, post what I’m wondering as question. This is the forum to do it! So what the hell here it goes… I am, as many know, a classic (40,s, 50’s, and 60’s) outboard runabout nut, mostly Thompsons. One of the options on those boats back then was windshield wipers, either electric motor powered or hand powered. I have a rather humorous image of someone hand cranking a windshield wiper in some of the above pictures while steering! It did get me thinking… Were wipers an option on the classic Chris Crafts, Centuries, Hackers, etc. of the day?

      Hey Miles!

CC used to put wipers on some of their skiffs, semi-enclosed, and cruisers obviously. My ’56 22′ Sea Skiff had one wiper on the skipper side. Pretty much useless as I never used my bimini top. It had only speed (fast), that just “slapped” the water back and forth across the windshield

Thanks for the windshield wiper insight! Didn’t know you had a Sea Skiff. Lyman had one that looked very much like that. I remember it well because it towed me once! That was a displacement hull. Is yours as well or does she get up on a plane?

Matt – that is an older Steve Lapkin photo. That is me jumping the waves at Tahoe. I believe it was Don Ayers first Riva ride!

Matt, Ronnie said thanks for the picture of us in our Lyman and NOT showing that picture 5 seconds later, as she took a spill off the engine hatch…
